John Howie Steakhouse stands as a true beacon for steak lovers, offering a refined yet inviting dining experience that combines expert craftsmanship with the finest cuts of meat. The restaurant’s signature dishes elevate the art of steak to new heights, with the filet mignon being an exceptional choice for those who appreciate a perfectly tender, melt-in-your-mouth cut. However, the real allure lies in the restaurant's impressive selection of premium beef. Guests have the unique opportunity to explore a variety of cuts from around the world, including American, Australian, and Japanese Wagyu, each offering distinct flavor profiles and textures that elevate the dining experience to a truly indulgent level.

The seven-flavor tenderloin bites are a must-try appetizer, bursting with a harmonious blend of seasonings that complement the rich, juicy beef perfectly. They’re the kind of dish that leaves you craving more. To round out the meal, the house-baked bread is a comforting touch, with the Gruyère cheese-filled rolls standing out as a specialty. Warm, soft, and savory, these rolls are a delightful prelude to the star of the meal and a perfect balance to the bold flavors of the steak.

From start to finish, John Howie Steakhouse offers an unparalleled culinary journey. Whether you're savoring a classic cut of filet mignon or exploring the exquisite flavors of Wagyu, every bite reflects the restaurant’s commitment to quality and excellence. With attentive service and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a dining experience that leaves a lasting impression.

The atmosphere, the food, the service- all top notch!!!
We started with ‘8 days in the desert’ wine- if you like a full bodied red wine this is the one to get. It paired perfectly with our filet mignon. We chose the medium rare “plus” - a bit of pink but not too rare. We enjoyed trying out the different salts that only enhanced the flavors. The meat was expertly cooked and our sides of asparagus and wild mushrooms was a feast for the taste buds! Even the complimentary shrimp appetizer was delicious. Worth every penny. Will definitely go back again!

Impeccable experience during our first visit. Emil did an amazing job serving our table, listened and responded to all our requests and made our birthday celebration memorable.
Food wise, I love the char and balance between smokiness and tenderness of the prime cuts. Not overly buttery as they were cooked over fire.

Very lovely seats for couples in the corridor as well. Would highly recommend this place for a dating night!

Delicious! Mario was our waiter, and he was amazing. Incredibly perceptive- old school type service that I loved. Ensured a new Coke for my son before he was half finished, bread crumb brushing the table, asking me (a woman) first what i wanted and serving me first. He even put my husband's and son's napkin in their lap. Menu explanation was perfect and not to pressured. Our party of three had the bread, lobster bisque, and various steaks. All was amazing and cooked perfectly. We also had the potato puree and asparagus which were great portions for our table. I loved trying the salts from different regions. We were sat in the middle- not my favorite, but still not bad. Comfortable! We will be back. Thank you so much for a fabulous night out!

Top notch steakhouse. John was our Maitre d and could not have been more attentive. We had a group of 18 and were catered to perfectly by the whole staff. Steaks were cooked perfectly and timing was impeccable for a group that size. Do not pass this restaurant up if you want the best steak and service.

My wife and I used to love going to John Howie, but over the last 10 years we have slowly watched the restaurant turn into a pedestrian experience from a food perspective. While it still appears that they use quality ingredients, there level of love and pride in their food that they once delivered appears significantly diminished, at least with the food we have ordered the last few times. When you walk out of John Howie, regardless of what you order, you should not be thinking that you should have just ordered burgers from 5-Guys.

REPLY TO OWNER'S RESPONSE: Thank you for taking the time to reach out. In a nutshell we paid over $120.00 for a burger, crispy chicken sandwich, Brussel sprouts, a beer and a diet coke. The fries were cold and undercooked, the meat to bun ratio was off (there was close to a full inch of bun overlapping the meat, the meat was inadequately seasoned, burger and chicken sandwich were on the cooler side of warm, the chicken sandwich had lots of components, but flavors were muted or neutralizing to each other. Comparing this experience to the burger experience I had there nearly 10 years ago and another time in the last year (I ordered the chicken sandwich this time because of my last burger experience), the burger is devolving. Additionally, I have eaten gourmet burgers at other restaurants, such as the non-$5,000 version (no bottle of Petrus) of The FleurBurger on several occasions so I believe I have a better than average understanding of how a high-end burger should present. The Brussel sprouts were undercooked and untrimmed. Past the flavor of initial bite, you were eating undercooked Brussel sprouts. IMO Brussel sprouts should be trimmed and cut in order for the cooking fluid/sauce to penetrate the Brussel sprouts. To be fair, I am not a fan of tasting the stark raw cabbage / Brussel sprouts flavor so if that is the flavor profile they are going for, then well done.

Food is great but wait for your food can be very long. One time we waited for an hour for our dinner; however the manager was great and gave us a discount on our bill.
