Kuro Sushi is in a strip mall next to a CVS in the Eastgate area of Bellevue. A simple location means the diners get a bigger bang for their buck. The online food photos certainly showed promise, so naturally, we went. The restaurant is roomy and well-maintained. While they have some insta/tik-tok gimmicky options (served with fire), the nigiri photos caught my attention. It is all about the fish quality. The kitchen items were perfectly cooked. One roll was falling upon, which I gave them feedback. They graciously offered a dessert or 5% off as compensation, which we declined. We appreciate gesture nonetheless. We were the last customers walking in on a Sunday night. The food arrived quickly. Service was swift, and they answered my questions well.

The Food:
Bluefin Sampler, $22 – 5 Stars
O-Toro, Chu-Toro, Akami, and chopped tuna are the four pieces in this sampler. The fish pieces are generously sized, and they taste sooooo good with the oils. Love, love, love these, including the cost. Hubby eyed mine with jealousy and placed an additional order for himself. Lol.

Salmon Sampler, $16 – 4.5 Stars
These were good too with quality pieces of fish. Hubby is not a fan of ikura nigiri, so side-eyed it a bit. Not their fault. I graciously ate it for him. Hahaha.

Orange Blossom roll, modified as seared salmon on top, $20 – 3.5 Stars
I requested recommendation for “maximum fish” roll, and he suggested the Orange Blossom or Cherry Blossom. I am familiar with both and opted for orange/salmon to contrast my Bluefin Sampler. Changing it to seared salmon top gets the bite more texture. Alas, this is the roll where every piece fell apart. In terms of flavor and fish quality, it is still a good roll.

Love Salmon roll, $18 – 3 Stars
Hubby read “Love Salmon” and ordered it. But he learned he doesn’t like salmon skin when it is not crispy or a roll with a bunch of veggies inside. Admittedly, the menu font size is small and need a magnifying glass to read “salmon skin, kaiware, yamagobo, green onion” inside. He didn’t like his roll.

Fried Oysters, Japanese style, $8 – 5 Stars
These are basically katsu-oysters. They have an excellent crisp and extremely hot for first bite. Yum!

Hamachi kama, $16 – 4.5 Stars
These visually looked a bit dry, but they were instead perfectly grilled.

Had my eye on this place since my go to sushi place closed. I ordered chef choice blue fin nigiri, wife had salmon poki, son had tuna poki. Presentation was amazing, portions did not disappoint, and the quality of fish and ingredients were delicious. I don’t
write reviews, but Kuro needed a shout out. I bowed to the chefs when leaving, told them beautiful work!

Pretty mid experience. The presentation was very nice and the restaurant also has clean and classy presentation but we were not impressed by the food. Some of the fish selection in the chirashi tasted not so fresh which was pretty disappointing considering it was $45. Same with the sashimi salad , overly salted and some fish were a bit too fishy for freshness. The best thing was the tempura appetizer. That being said, we would not be excited to come back here.

A hidden gem with delicious rice and well-sourced fish. We've been several times and it's our favorite place for sushi outside of Japan

They have a lot of good sushi and cooked seafood options here. Of the sushi, I found the lobster roll was really nice, and they give a nice display with it, being on fire when it comes out. The other roles I had were quite decent, like the dragon roll and the salmon roll. I really liked the Salmon Collar dish (I believe it was Kama?), as it was a decent mix of fatty while all having plenty of salmon meat on it. Overall, happy to come to this place again.

My go-to local japanese restaurant! Everything about this place screams impressive. The food quality, presentation, friendly attentive service, and sushi chefs all rock! Server Jio is just amazing on all levels, and Sam (Manager & Chef), does his utmost to ensure everyone has the best experience possible. Their happy hour menu has so many quality items & great prices. Their flaming lobster roll is incredible! Big fan of their miso, sashimi salad, mixed tempura, unique house rice, and salmon shio yaki! All to die for. If you're looking for your favorite new local japanese restaurant in bellevue/eastgate/factoria,....this is your place!

The fish here is generally very fresh - tried the salmon sashimi and 2 different rolls here and they were great. I really liked the Totoro roll, which had a lot of fresh fish. The rolls here are unique in that they’re made with a combination of white and purple rice, which I think made the rice taste a bit stickier overall? Another thing that I really liked about the rolls here is that the balance of rice to fish is very good - there’s just a thin layer of rice that wraps the roll.

Also tried the eel bowl from the happy hour menu. Although it was from the happy hour menu, it was still a large portion with half an avocado included as well. Unfortunately, the eel didn’t taste fresh, which was disappointing. A lot of sauce was used as well, but you can still taste the fishiness of the eel.

Visited this place on a weekday for lunch and there were plenty of seats available. Would highly recommend the sashimi, sushi, and specialty rolls here.

Cam here from a recommendation from a friend and it was great.

We ordered a variety of food. Special sushi rolls, nigiri, sides, etc. For the most part the fish and rice are well made for the price and they got a good variety of options and some higher end items. You can order the Kama toro as well, very fatty and not many pieces in the store.

The rice is also interesting, using a black rice from Japan mixed with other white rice gives it a unique flavor you don't see in other places.

The downside of this restaurant is the ginger and wasabi are very weak. Ginger is store bought and not fresh. The wasabi is of course not real, but is very thick, not a fan of.

Great medium range price sushi spot that you always know you in for a good time. Will coming again.

We had lunch here on Monday at noon, and everything was really tasty. The fish was super fresh, and the uni bowl was great too. The miso soup was a bit bland, though. Overall, we enjoyed the meal, and the server was friendly and quick. We’ll definitely be back. ^^
