This place was absolutely great and was totally delicious. I really recommend it!
Edit: in 2025 they changed the way they marinate the fresh beef and used way too much baking soda for marinating, now it tastes awful. It is such a pity that they changed their traditional recipe just because some dumb customer complained about it. Now the beef is very tender but lost the beef flavor.
Original review from 2023:
This is the most authentic ChongQing hotpot I had in the west coast. The unapologetically spicy soup base really bring my memory back to ChongQing. The only difference is that you won’t get diarrhea because unlike the authentic ChongQing hotpot, they didn’t reuse the soup base😂
I took my friends from ChongQing to try this place and they agreed that it is as good as the hotpot places in ChongQing, one actually said it is even better.
Loved this place! The hot pot broths — especially the signature and tomato — were amazing. And all the side dishes were tasty too!
I enjoyed the hot pot here and particularly liked the lamb and cabbage. Note that this is a Chongqing style restaurant and that means the spicy broth is mouth numbing. That said, service was ok and it was a decent dining experience. The price was around $90 (before tip) for two people and for that price you can go to Dolar which has fresher ingredients, better service, and more beautiful atmosphere.
I had a great time with my friends here. The staff were super nice. They were busy, but they were the most friendly and helpful. The service was well beyond my expectations. When we were ordering they helped explained the difference between meat. The lady even helped find and texted my receipt when I called later in the evening.
As a Chinese, the food is great. The dessert is a must-try!! I will definitely come back.
Nice food and service!
My friend and I had lunch there. The service was bad. She was rude and unhelpful. The food was not fresh. We both had diarrhea afterwards. Worst experience.

our party has two families icl. 4 adults and one 9y kid and one 6 months baby, I was told 18% mandatory service fee is added for party over 6 people during the checkout, THAT IS RIDICULOUS TO COUNT THE BABY INTO THE NUMBER OF GUESTS.

I was disappointed to find that the tip was calculated as a combined total when we asked for separate checks. It felt like we were charged twice for the tip. Also, this has happened every time I've dined here. It would be helpful if the tip could be calculated separately when we request separate bills to avoid confusion in the future."

It was just not good.
Food was not good. The portions were small and low-quality. The pot took ridiculously long time to boil even when dialed to maximum. The broth had no taste. They offered no snacks at the source bar.
Service was not good. The service providers didn't bother to introduce what was served, and chatted with each other, ignoring our call.
There were also not many people, even during peak hours.

Lunch set meal
The decoration feels nostalgic in the 80s-90s style
Everything is packed in small bowls, and sesame oil comes in small cans.
In addition to condiments, the side dish table also has white fungus soup, grapes and Sichuan pickles, which are pretty good.
I ordered the beef and lamb combo. I felt that the quality of the meat was average and it was all in small pieces.
Some ingredients are quite distinctive, such as broadsword kidney slices, brain slices, etc.
Overall, the lunch set is average value for money. If you eat it normally, it's basically just right.
Compared with the rest of the lunch set, I think the meat of happy lamb is of higher quality and there are more snacks at the side table.

The place is filled with nostalgic Chinese 90's decors.

It is completely different from Nan Hotpot Main Store in Chengdu. The Shacha sauce is dried out and the ingredients are not fresh if they are not replenished in time. The price is not cheap for one person, and the hot pot base is not on point. The tomato pot is not good enough, and my friend said the spicy pot is not good either.
Summary: Not recommended. Don't come!
