I’ve ordered from this bakery twice—once for a custom 6-month cake and another time for a different custom cake. While I appreciate that they accepted my first order on short notice, the design was very basic, and unfortunately, the taste did not meet expectations. The frosting was overly sweet, with a thick layer of sugar and fondant, making it difficult to enjoy.
For the second order, I provided three days’ notice and requested a slightly more complex design, but they were unable to accommodate it. Despite purchasing some of the design materials myself, the cake still felt overpriced. The base cake itself lacked depth in flavor, and the frosting had a noticeable sugar granule texture. It tasted more like a store-bought cake mix than a freshly baked one.
I was hoping for a better experience the second time, but unfortunately, the taste and design limitations were disappointing. I’ve had much better experiences at other bakeries like [French Bakery and Tous Les Jours]. While their customer service was polite, the quality and taste did not justify the cost for me.

We have ordered 7 cakes from here in the past. However the last cake we ordered was a huge disappointment. I have included a photo of the cakes we requested and the cake that was provided (we paid $115 for this cake btw). And it tasted almost inedible. The frosting was beyond salty and the cake was hard. Moreover we requested a confetti cake and that was not what was made. I get the impression they were really busy and so likely gave us an old cake they had on hand - as the owner replied and said they “tried to squeeze me in”. Honestly I would have rather they just said no than to pay $100+ for an inedible, messy cake.
I would not recommend buying a cake here for any special occasion as you are taking a gamble and likely won’t get what you want.

Inside was soooo cute!! Their cakes are decorated beautifully. The cupcakes I got were pretty good, wish they had a filling inside as they were a bit dry.

But we ordered a simple 6inch cake with an edible image, and it was as over $100. The image wasn’t edible after all. Cake was yummy, but price was way too high for what we got.

The owner made my wedding cake which was the delicious almond raspberry two tier! Then I had 100 cupcakes with a variety of flavors for my guests! She came and set everything up and it turned out beautiful!!! I enjoyed going back to the maker to try more flavors to see which ones I wanted for my guests! Everyone loved them!! Still my favorite cupcake bakery! Highly recommend!!!

My husband and I were shopping around for cupcakes as the dessert option at our wedding when we stumbled upon New York Cupcakes. Cupcakes aren't usually our favorite desserts but after our first bite, we knew this place was special. It was so easy to place an order and they even offered delivery to our venue. We got so many compliments from all of our guests and even one guest said they were the best gluten free cupcakes they've had. We will definitely be going back to try more flavors and would highly recommend them for any big event!
I ordered 18 regular in 2 flavors and a dozen mini cupcakes in 3 flavors for my kiddo’s bday party. I chose NY Cupcakes partly due to price, as you can get more cupcakes and have more choice of number of flavors when ordering in bulk compared to a couple known Seattle stores, and I made the drive over from Seattle. Service was excellent with tips on wrapping the boxes in plastic wrap since I was serving the cupcakes the next morning. When I showed the staff some fondant toppers I ordered externally, they were direct about not inserting the toppers too early since the cake is soft. The cupcakes tasted delicious. I would order them again any day, and if I wasn’t ordering primarily for kids, I would have liked to have tried more flavors! Also, the shop smells great and is beyond cute!
