The halibut looked good but lacked flavor- completely bland. The black cod- also super bland. We got the escargot appetizer and they could have taken the time to toast and add butter to the bread. Maybe it was an off night?
Our server acted as if she had no interest in serving us. She was hardly anywhere to be found, and definitely didn't deserve the automatic 20% gratuity added. An overall disappointing experience bc of the lackluster service. Seastar can do better than that!
My only complaint is that I made a reservation for a Monday, my wife's birthday. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table near the entrance to the main dining room, next to a family with two small children. I toured the restaurant and noticed several much nicer tables further into the dining room. I asked to be moved and was. After this, the service and food were outstanding.
Excellent food. Service was good. Sommelier helped pick wine and had really good suggestions. Sommelier was also attentive checking back and refreshing our wine glass. Unfortunately, 1/2 way through dinner the waitress took it upon herself to dump the remainder of the wine into our glasses, and took the bottle way. This made our glasses over full, and the white wine was not as enjoyable when i finally got to the end of it as it was warmer than i prefer. It felt like the wait staff continually were trying to clear the table. Perhaps it's me, but i prefer not to feel rushed and i don't believe we overstayed based on our departure time.
We came here due to the good ratings but left disappointed. Both food and service fell short. I was surprised that “seared” opakapaka was overcooked. While we were still eating desserts, our server already dropped off the check and kept checking if we were ready to pay. The restaurant was still pretty empty at the time. Btw, the restaurant has mandatory 20% service charge even when the waiter did not refill our water once. Maybe this is why he was so eager to kick us out.
Delicious food, as always. Service was lacking, it took longer than expected to bring things like bread and dessert. Bread (that we paid for) was not included in our leftovers to go which was disappointing.
A very nice experience, the waiter, wait staff and great Asian woman (sorry I did not get her name) were attentive and very great.
I love this place. The seafood is always super fresh and tasty, service is great and the place is chill. Look forward to going every time.

We had a wonderful lunch. We had forgotten it was restaurant week and intended to get the crab cakes but when we saw the restaurant week menu we couldn't resist. We both had the samosas and the sole. Wow! The samosas were flaky and warm. Just perfect on a cold day. Then the sole was light and crispy and served with creamy mashed potatoes and haricots verts. Great lunch.

Seastar didn't disappoint. To a certain degree, we prefer it over John Howie, given its specific focus on seafood (BTW their steak and other "land" dishes are just as good).
Food: 5-star
Service: 5-star, The waitress we had tonight was a highly intelligent and experienced one. With just the right amount of hovering, she gave us plenty of time to do it on our own pace and term, and was super tentative, considerate and generous. I'd hire her in any 5-star restaurants in a heartbeat.
Atmosphere: 4-star (the venue is just a tidbit too small and not enough privacy. The interior decor is probably a bit outdated to match the rest of their 5-star restaurant status.
Vegetarian options: There are vegan menu options
Dietary restrictions: There are gluten free menu options

Great dining in downtown Bellevue. It's been a while since dining here and they still maintain the high standards and excellent food and service.
Cannot go wrong with seafood but other dishes are great as well.
Definitely take advantage of Seattle Restaurant Week and then come back for the full menu later!

Had a great business dinner here with some co-workers and friends. Service was exceptional, they had great drinks selections (wine, bar). I love good bourbon, and they had some awesome special selections and bottles.
Food was very good, recommend the appetizer Tower so you can try a little of everything. I had the jambalaya and it was great, one of my co-workers tried the sea bass with yakisoba and said it was really good too.

Seastar had great food and is a nice place. The issue is that there is this new 20% service charge just for sitting down and having the audacity to patronize them. This is without regard to your party size (solo, 2, 25, etc.). Thus, my tips are zeroed out. Why? You're taking money out of my wallet without a choice above and beyond what is ordered without telling me up front. So, my charity ends there. Management might want to revisit such a bone headed policy, and I am sure tips will recover accordingly. P.S., this isn't just me, I spoke to every table around me to see what they thought. They all thought it was BS and abusive. One couple said they won't be back.
