I'm better off going to Asian 1 then that place. The last time I went this resteraunt was disappointing. It started when I called them and ask when are they going to close? Someone on the phone stated that "we go as we flow" which is not the answer that I was looking and he didn't give me the specific answer. When I got to the restaurant with 2 other people at that time. I was looking forward to dine in and we waited someone to take us to the table. But instead someone (chef)told us that we can order take outs because they are "closing". We ordered our meal and we left disappointed. The meal that I ordered is all right but the service was bad. I'm never coming back.

The owners lied and stated that the drink I ordered was sugar-free and that they can make their drinks sugar-free. The drink was not sugar-free. This is really serious for people with diabetes. I just wanted a sugar-free drink and fortunately do not have medical complications when it comes to the intake of sugar, but to lie and state that they can make their boba teas sugar-free is really dangerous for people. Do NOT order a drink here if you require/want a sugarless drink.

Last night I ordered food for my husband and I for my birthday from Black Pearl Asian Fusion - Bellingham, WA. We got the food and it was by far the most disgusting meal I've ever had. The chicken in the soup tasted rotten, the veggies in the spring roll we got was slimy. We were promised green tea ice cream with the meal and instead got what looked like melted milk. My partners curry tasted and smelled like a rotten animal. It had a film and powdery substance in it. Usually, I wouldn't ever want to complain as I hate to get anyone in trouble, but we were both sick all night just from the few bites we had. My husband didn't eat more then a few bites, and I had to throw mine out when it started to make me nauseated. It was a real bummer to have this happen on my birthday. It also seemed to have contaminated my partner with gluten. We believe the powdery substance in the curry was due to a roux. Since when does Curry need a roux (water and wheat flour to thicken) ? It's usually a safe choice for gluten intolerance on Thai or Indian menus as it's traditionally gluten free. It also ended up being unreasonably expensive. $20 for curry that tastes rotten?Just, all around a really terrible experience and frankly this place needs to be closed down. I'm so sorry to say it as I know there are people behind these reviews.

I am a regular here and always will be. For other types of food I go to all sorts of different places. (For steaks or hamburgers or whatever).. but for green curry or ? Pho.. I stopped going anywhere else. This is the only place I go to. It is NOT an overpriced pretentious waterfront establishment where you're buying as much atmosphere as you are food. The Black Pearl is just AWESOME food, served by genuinely friendly people. Be aware, as someone else in another review mentioned, this isn't fast food. It may seem slow sometimes but consider: They a small family place, with a limited staff (family mostly) and a lot of regulars (for obvious reasons) and a lot of delivery orders, which means they are often pretty backed up So sometimes (not always) you have to wait a little. Even if it looks like there's no one in there, they are often busy in the back with a lot of delivery orders. You'll see pick up services in and out the whole time your there. So if you're in a hurry, go eat at McDonald's, don't eat here and then go complain about the fact that food that's better than a kiddie burger takes longer to make. Myself, I just only go here when I have time to, when I'm not going to be concerned with a possible wait. And it IS worth the wait. Thats just me.Bottom line: GREAT food that you are sure to love, from the nicest people you could meet!!(Sidenote: I've noticed a couple other reviews that seemed like hit-pieces. In one review, the person complained about every single thing that she could think of to complain about. I am especially suspicious of a review when they have a horrid complaint about every single aspect of their experience with an establishment, with nothing good to say at all. Believe it or not, there ARE a few people out there who arn't very balanced, who oft over react to trivial issues, or who are just plain stupid or insane. And a couple of THOSE people can in fact write reviews. If EVERYTHING was terrible, then I have to assume that that person is WANTING everything to be terrible, perhaps unjustly, when they are possibly really upset about some other thing. I suspect its really THEY who are having a bad day, not the establishment. For example, should you look at other reviews written by one of these negative critics, you find that in one case, they wrote a 5 star review to some other business, then in the comments said that "I only gave them 5 stars because I hope the management will see it.." - so that they could then go on to complain about how loud thier forklifts are all night. And thats kind of my point. Not every complaint is really about what an issue may be.Just saying, every time I go eat there, I love the food, AND my interactions with the staff, who are among the friendliest people you'll meet. Take bad reviews with a grain of salt.)
