My experience with the service and servers on a very recent visit was about as bad as it gets. I was pressed for time as I had an acupuncture treatment coming up. The person who took my order indicated no problem - the place was nearly empty, I only ordered a sandwich, and there were three people milling around in the kitchen. After at least 15 minutes, I checked back to see how much longer it would be - with the possibility of getting a no prep ready to eat item. The same fellow who had taken my order assured me that my sandwich was just being completed and would be out very shortly. At least five more minutes, and two other orders passed by, but no sign of mine. I went back up to the counter: my order had not been STARTED. A party of three came up, behind me. I told them that I hoped they weren't in a hurry as the place was slow. The woman who was now waiting on me told me that I was spreading rumors and creating a toxic atmoshere, and that I should leave. This isn't quite the end of the story, but it should suffice.p.s. I ordered in, but ended up having to take the sandwich with me both on account of the negative reaction of the staff and the fact I had 0 time left to spare.

Great little cafe, coffee shop in the upstairs level of Village Books. The coffee is smooth and tasty. Their pastries are delicious. They have plenty of tables with great views to sit and study. Wonderful spot!

Good vegetarian options, nice atmosphere. We got the beet Rueben and the polenta bowl. The beet Rueben was super tasty. The polenta could be creamier and have a touch more seasoning but still hit. Lots of coffee drinks and deserts. Excited to come back!

In two words, cozy coffee. As a lover of great bookstores, Evolve is the 'cherry on top' of the fabulous Village Books in Fairhaven. Nestle down...upstairs...with one of the best chai tea lattes around, delicious eggs on toast (with beetroot hummus) or any one of their evil/fabulous pastries. Enjoy the view!

A local coffee shop/cafe inside an indie bookstore? What’s not to love?! The cafe is located on the 3rd floor of Village Books in Bellingham. (The stairs up are at the back of the bookstore on the left side, or take the elevator up.)The menu has delicious filling food that’s all locally sourced, hot/cold coffee & tea drinks, and fresh baked pastries & treats at the counter. They have gluten free options too. They do close earlier than the bookstore, so be sure to go early… it’s a great place for a late morning/early afternoon bite to eat.Their polenta bowl is one of my faves, and is shareable (for 2 people). I also like the key lime pie. And their biscuits are yummy too! ?Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free food & pastry options.

I’ve been here a couple of times and have enjoyed my drink and food. There’s a little savory ham thing that’s really tasty. The service is pretty slow though. We waited for a good 20 minutes for our coffee only to have one be wrong. You’re kinda stuck at that point. I received a too sweet mocha full of caffeine when I ordered a decaf latte. The person offered to remake it, but it took so long my friend would be done with hers by the time I received mine. For just two coffees the service is painfully slow. I’d go back for the savory food but think twice considering the slow service. Hit and a miss.

On a very slow day, we were asked to leave because they don’t allow laptops at the restaurant. I’ve never been to a coffee shop/cafe that didn’t allow you to do homework. I’ll buy better, cheaper, coffee somewhere else. And the food is truly not good. Got a mushroom pastry and it was frozen. Super bad service too. Not sure why you’d make people leave if they’re alone doing homework and buying coffee. Can’t wait for this place to go out of business!

the service was amazing! i remember the gentleman helping me was very friendly and told me about some of his favorite bakery items. i was not a huge fan of the matcha that i had, but it most likely had something to do with the brand of matcha, and not at all on how my server made it. would for sure come here again to sit in the lounge, read a book, and snack on a pastry--might skip the coffee next time.

One of the best cafes I've enjoyed in the past few years. I absolutely loved the sipping chocolate, the espresso was delicious and so were their chocolate truffles. They have a great selection of pastries and excellent lunch options. The atmosphere is relaxed and unfussy with plenty of tables and great views from the windows. Highly recommended!

So this place...albeit that it's in a book store, not for me. This Cafe has more food than pastries but they are like a vegan/vegetarian/holistic health food place like you'd find in CA where it's pricey and the flavors are..well..absent...so were the blueberries that were supposed to be in my pastry...but I digress. My coffee order was messed up and then I was kicked from the main dining hall because I had my computer on the table doing work...and that was a no-no..Seriously dude? I'm also pretty sure the dude that took my order was high and sadly, I was not or this experience would have been better. So really, a 2 star event but I gave 3 stars for the view and the location. Everything else was bulla.
