Has a tasty lunch here, split empanadas and the pollo guisado with the bf and it was plenty. Between chicken and beef we preferred the beef empanada. The chicken was wonderful, the rice a tad salty but still good to eat. The tostones and cassava fries are perfect. A solid place that we'll likely repeat! Gluten free options but unsure if it's safe for celiac.

Please work on dialing in your recipes, and find someone with a refined palate to give you feedback. The Owner/Chef seems kind but after two years the food should not be this disappointing. The pork sandwich was too small and too bland, although the bread was fresh. It desperately needed a side of sauce. Go visit the sandwiches at your competition and you'll see why it was underwhelming. The salad had nothing in it but overly vinigery dressing and onions. There needs to be more in it for the price you charge. Everything else off too, although we didn't try the cocktails. Wish you the best but you have some work to do.

We stopped at J's last month to try a restaurant that we hadn't been to before & we loved everything we ordered. While you might think it's fast-food due to ordering at a walk-up counter on the first floor, it takes just as long as a sit-down restaurant for your meal to arrive - and with good reason. Each plate was as beautiful as it was tasty.
I ordered the Cuban sandwich and it had all the flavor I was looking for. The potato salad I ordered had more flavor than I was expecting (a good thing) and we enjoyed some bottled beverages as well.
There was enough to take home with us & we enjoyed sitting in the most comfortable cushioned chairs I sat in at a restaurant while we waited for food to arrive. I'd recommend going and trying out a dish or two. We'll be back.

WWWOOOWWW!!! I don’t write many reviews but I had to for J’s Kitchen. The pollo guisado dish but substitute for gandules was a flavor bomb! So so good and our 15 month old loved the chicken. So glad we came here for dinner and everyone was super kind in serving us.

This restaurant is beautifully decorated with lots of artwork and plants. The service was friendly and quick. The menu consisted of sandwiches, rice bowls and a few salads. I got the Veggie Guisado (chickpea stew) with added avocado. It was hearty and filling, but a bit too heavy as it was mostly rice, chickpeas, and potatoes. The rice was also a little too salty and tasted fairly simple, like something I could make at home. I was hoping for more flavour in the bowl. I kind of regret not getting a sandwich instead.

I stumbled on J’s on a stunningly beautiful day visiting Fair Haven. I ordered the Carne Bowl with Pernil, grilled onions, and arroz con gandules. For me, this was comfort food, warm and delicious. I enjoyed talking to the gentleman behind the counter about the characteristics of PR food; he was so kind and welcoming. A really enjoyable meal on all fronts.

This place is a total rip off. Tiny portions of overcooked and over salted food. It’s no wonder it’s always empty.

Had the pollo - the chicken and the tostones were excellent. But order without the rice. It was way too salty. I’d rather have more tostones and ask for no salt on those - way over salted.

I am used to philipino dishes and home cooked meals. I came to the right place. The whole chicken thighs in rice with all the flavors. With an experience of tasty food and is good for you! I tried the Buffalo chicken empanada so yummy.
