This place is like so many restaurants in Bellingham: Highly rated by people who have lived here a long time with food that is totally, completely, mediocre. I think if they weren't charging $15-$17 for such small sandwiches, I wouldn't mind that the flavors are lacking as much as they are. But for that much money, I honestly expect excellent food. The food at L&L is fine, but it's not great. If you're charging that much for such small portions (and I get that inflation happened and running small business is expensive), then you need to make sure your food is worth it. This food is not.

My boyfriend and I bought the cobbler there and it was NOT labeled as a nut product. We took it home and had it for breakfast the following day and about halfway though I started to feel like I was having an allergic reaction. I had my boyfriend take a bite of just the topping and he said it tasted kind of like nuts. I called and was I informed that they use almonds and was then asked if I had asked the person at the register when we bought it if it had nuts and I said no because it should be labeled since it's a common allergen. They're lucky I didn't go into anaphylaxis.

Leaf and ladle is the perfect spot for a quick and healthy lunch. Plenty of options to choose from and several local kombucha flavors available. The staff is welcoming and you get the feeling this is a hidden local gem. I stop every time I’m in Bellingham.

I took my friends from out of town here. We waited 40 minutes for our food. My friends chicken wrap was cold and not well put together. To be honest, I did enjoy my food while my friends did not. But it sucks that we left a big tip before we discovered the service was so poor. This is not what expected, Especially when Libations is always such a joy to go to. ?
Hidden little gem!! AMAZING food, AMAZING chill atmosphere, AMAZING friendly staff. Our new favorite spot when we come to Bellingham. Bonus they have gluten-free options. Anything on the menu can be made as gluten-free!!!

I went here with my mother for the first time recently and I was very impressed with the quality of the food both in health as well as how absolutely delicious it was! Truly exceeded my expectations and I absolutely cannot wait to go back again very soon! I'm so glad that they are as close to my apartment as they are! Updated review! The food is still fresh and good, Service is prompt, professional and very friendly. But back to the food. L&L has good vegan and GF options in Bellingham, but they could offer vegan desserts, which they usually do not. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced. Specials rotate so check in with their Facebook page for the latest. But vegan Caesar and at least one vegan panini and soup are always on. Another great feature is the availability of to-go items in the case, often in family-size portions.
