Alex is a very experienced roaster and the results are top notch. Maniac is my go to in Bellingham for fresh, perfectly roasted beans.
The roast levels are very underrated (coffee is much darker than stated). Almost every roast of theirs could be considered dark, and have very similar flavor profiles to each other (relatively burnt flavors). The bags don’t have one way valve sealing (an industry standard). They have very limited information about their bean sources (processing etc.), and they still grind their beans pre-sale (destroying their flavor/aroma). They don’t even list the roast date on their bags! By today’s standards, they are behind most roasters in every way. I hope they try to catch up with their competitors who are offering delicious, varied roasts and inform their customers about the product. Their prices have kept up, just not the results.
Was introduced to Maniac by a coworker and have loved it ever since. They are my go to for beans at the house. I love that they delivery locally and the cost is nearly nothing for it. Prices for the beans I think is also pretty fair. We usually order a 'base' brew (Brazil at the moment!) and rotate through the rest so that we can give everything a try and find our favorites. There's a lot of sharing at work as well. We will do a 'bean swap' when we order new flavors or bring in beans for someone to try it for the first time. Super glad I was recommended Maniac!

Only had your custom roast for Old Town Cafe so far(that I know of), but I had to ask them, "Who does your coffee!?" The server proudly said, Maniac. Great stuff.

Love these folks! We order the coffee, it arrives, it's delicious. No drama. Friendly staff. Cobra Kai is my go-to. It has a great flavor, always a very consistent product. No burnts, no duds. Not sure what else you'd want from a roaster!

Delicious beans. A friend recommended this local company and gifted me a bag. Wow! I was sold. Amazing!
The Bellinghamster Blend is a staple in our household.
Always good coffee and great service
Fairly unimpressed with the offerings here and the owner doesn't have the right amount of dedication to the craft. You can find much higher quality coffee elsewhere in town for better prices.
Restaurantji Recommends
The owner works Primarily solo the majority of the year for ordering, roasting, packaging, and delivery.Great work and dedication to supply locals with the best coffee around.
Love everyone one of their roasts. Plus it’s a local business that cares about community. Can’t ask much more than that. Well, okay. They’re super friendly, too!

Some of the best coffee you will ever drink. I love sampling the limited run options.
I have to get mine shipped, but its totally worth it. I heard about Manic from a friend and reached out for a recommendation and it was spot on!
