Been here a few times and the breakfasts are always great. Done to perfection. And service has always been excellent as well. But $5 for a cup of coffee is over the top and I had to take a star off just because of that. If the coffee was beyond incredible then than $5 every now and then would be worth it. But the coffee is weak and bad and I've had better at Denny's. Plus if you're you're down from Canada this is a $7 CAD cup of bad coffee. So my recommendation is don't change a thing with your breakfasts but please lower your coffee prices and serve better coffee.

Food is poor quality and overpriced. The upstairs is cozy but the downstairs area where we were seated was rundown. We ordered 3 entrees and a large salad and the salad had several wilted leaves but was still by far the best item we ordered. Stroganoff was salty and mediocre and the halibut was overcooked and salty. Clearly way too much prep happening hours if not a couple days in advance. Should've known when the halibut with polenta and stroganoff came out about 10 mins after we ordered. Dinner for three for 180 bucks and probably the worst meal I've had in a restaurant in years. Felt terrible about not taking home my leftovers and wasting so much food but I just couldn't eat any more than a few bites. I should've complained but I didn't.
This was our first time here. Drinks: We ordered all three mocktails and a vodka drink. The mocktails were $17 and consisted of very watered down common ingredients (tea, lemon, lavender, cranberry). Very meh Food: Ordered the steak bites, very tasty. The onion & beet flatbread was nothing more than a personal pizza with lots of caramelized onions & very few beets. Very basic. For entrees, we had the clam chowder (very good), black bean burger, (very good); the shrimp linguine (tasty with lots of big shrimp; and the Steak Diane. They were out of the sauce for the steak, which was weird since we were dining early on a Saturday evening & a quality restaurant needs to have everything on the menu stocked for each dish on the menu. The steak was fine nevertheless. We then ordered dessert. Again, there was no sauce for the bread pudding. Not okay for the start of dinner service. Staff was welcoming and the food came out quickly, but it was not worth the more than $200 bill.
visited with a date girlfriend last Friday ,haven't eaten here in years. Last time it was great good food good service. this time around service was great food was horrible./i ordered the beef stroganoff and unfortunately it was unlike any stroganoff i had ever had it was like they tried to gourmet it up and really should not have.it was overly rich and tart and unpalatable.the stuffed mushrooms were great but my girlfriends meal was equally not great .disappointing to say the least

Skylarks is a consistent performer with great food and service. My wife and I go there quite often and take guests with us.
We waited a good 15 minutes to be approached by a waitress. After ordering it was another longer wait before our meal arrived....A $59 prime rib dinner with garlic mashed potatoes arrived cold and uneatable. The meat was grisly and tasteless. We should have just refused our meal, but getting service remained problematic so we simply left.
We love Skylarks! Thank you! We come every Christmas Eve... it's a very special tradition.
One of the best breakfast’s my wife and I have ever had!

This restaurant has earned 5 ⭐️—despite that, I will not be back. More on that later.
We ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer (some of the best I’ve had), the fried halibut (good, not as flaky as I would prefer, certainly not worth $34, but good). This may warrant a lower score, but the rest of the food was above average in taste. The soup of the day (red pepper) was perfectly seasoned and the sliders were good.
The waitress couldn’t have been nicer and did a great job. Easily earned 20%.
The atmosphere is quite nice for a small restaurant. It’s in keeping with the neighborhood vibe and charm.
Why I won’t be back and a word of caution:
Skylarks Cafe is extraordinarily expensive (see receipt in photos) for this tier of restaurant. After all, cafe is in the name, and that’s about what it is - a pleasant, upscale cafe— serving brunch, dinner, and drinks. I gave a lower rating in an OpenTable survey because the prices were outdated. Generally speaking, if the restaurant advertises the charges correctly on their menu (which doesn’t really apply for Google like it does Open Table), I don’t think it’s fair to dock points because of the prices — you see them before you decide to order. A reasonably minded person reading this review might ask:
What about inflation and the area?
Inflation particularly in 2022-2024 left restaurants and retailers with no choice but to raise their prices. But here it’s more than that. I know because I’ve dined at comparable— even larger scale— restaurants in the Fairhaven neighborhood that charge significantly less for the same menu items. On a Friday at 6:00 pm, this restaurant was unusually slow. We had trouble finding parking in the area, but there were no more than a handful of tables occupied. If I owned or managed this restaurant I would feel great about my staff and food, but I would wonder if lowering prices would result in greater revenue overall based on volume. If the restaurant decides to lower prices, I would definitely consider dining here again.
What were the “other fees” on the receipt?
In addition to the unusually high prices, this restaurant charges a 3% fee for using credit cards.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner here! staff were wonderful, the outdoor dining area was warm with propane heaters, and it was a night to remember. The butter pecan Old Fashioned and cranberry cider mimosa drinks were perfect. Great place 😃

Turkey dinner was processed..Sad high expectations. Everything was out of a box, just heated put on plates. Costco has better p.pie.. wont be going back there
What a nice way to spend Thanksgiving. The meal was classic and nicely prepared and the service was excellent. Hailey made us feel welcome and went out of her way to answer our questions. We especially enjoyed the seasonal cocktails.
We've started a family tradition of Thanksgiving dinner at Skylark's — appreciate the welcoming friendly staff, the charming ambience, and the tasty food.
