We came in on a Monday night very nice atsmosphere. I gave it a 3 on atsmosphere because on Tuesday night it was a totally different vibe.We are from Seattle and found what I thought was a gem of a place. Nice bartenders . We Sat at bar and service great .Tonight, Tuesday night we stopped in and it was a totally different experience. The restaurant offers bar food which requires someone in the kitchen to prepare it. The place was very busy so now we are down to one bartender .Had to go up to bar and wait at end of bar just to get our check.Note to owner hire a cook if you are offering food in a bar.

I was a patron of this bar for one beer with two friends. One of us wanted to smoke so we all went outside. We decided to try another place when we had an issue with the Uber driver finding us. A short Irish man named Chris pulled up and parked in the loading zone. He made a comment about my friend being tall and gestured towards wanting to fight. He also said if he lost a fight he would find out where we were from and do us in. We thought he was joking so we went inside to figure out the Uber situation. We then found out that we were cut off. How appalling after one drink. Chris is a terrible influence and shouldn’t have any affiliation. I will never come back.
Dark, old-school speakeasy ambiance, equally traditional old school drinks, local taps and some creative surprises (ask about the frozè) await you at Southside, the slightly more fun/less spartan big brother to Jack's (in downtown B-ham). Unusual snacks and sharables round out their simple menu, including a selection of tinned fishes with crackers, spicy nuts, pickle plates, and warm Brie with apples and bread. Fun and yummy, but this is not a restaurant; it's a cocktail bar, so not really a dinner option for most tastes.They get extra points for having the now-rare and much maligned cocktail onion, and even a savory cocktail (The Businessman's Lunch) that features it as a garnish. I love a good Gibson, too, and these savory cocktails with the pickled onion pair well with the fish snacks on their menu. Nicely done!Prices are high, but the excellent, exacting cocktails and upbeat, attentive service makes it a worthy splurge for a little celebration. Recommended!
