Very good food. Even though it was very busy, we were able to sit down right away. Staff was very friendly and efficient.

Dishes ordered: Biscuits & Gravy, Apple Pancake, & GF California Eggs Benedict. 5 out of 5 all the way.

Biscuits were light & fluffy with sage & sausage gravy. The gravy was not oily with the right balance of sausage & sage.

The Apple Pancake was served hot & still sizzling. Had to wait a few minutes to cool before eating. Lot of apples, crunchy brown sugar topping & a side of Apple syrup.

The California Eggs Benedict with GF toast was the perfect balance of sauce to bread ratio. The avocado was the right spot of ripeness & tomato was not mealy. Potatoes were fried just right.

Ambiance of the restaurant really added to the experience. Christmas decor was not overwhelming and went with the overall theme of the restaurant decor.

Wait staff were very attentive. We never had an empty coffee cup. The food was served quickly. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu & any food sensitivity.

The cost is on par with what one would expect for a breakfast/brunch restaurant.

The only disadvantage was the wait for a table. HOWEVER, considering how delicious the food was our 20 minute wait was well worth it.

The staff were very friendly and refilled my water and coffee often. The portions were very generous as each dish comes with 3 delicious pancakes as well. I really enjoyed the corned beef!

Had a great experience the morning of Christmas eve. Despite the full house the waitress's were all super nice and helpful, the food was incredible, and overall the whole family had a great experience!

The food I've tried was decent. There are no diabetic options. Everything is served with pancakes, the only substitutions are bread or potaos. They want $7-8 to substitute sausage or bacon. The omlet was $20 on its own! The wait time is awful. I sat there for over an hour waiting on a friend's food because there was nothing I could eat. Then they forgot to pack his food to go and mixed up his pancakes with potatoes. The experience was awful and took forever. $5+ for black coffee. Will not be back!

So disappointed. Yes, the food is good - but the wait just isn’t worth it anymore. We had a larger party of 8 for a birthday, and called ahead to see if they could accommodate us, and they said yes. We showed up and were told a 35-45 min wait, which we were totally ok with! Almost an hour and a half later they had seated everyone else and were taking in new people and seating them way ahead of us. When we asked about our status, we were told repeatedly that they were waiting on one table to leave and then we could be seated. We left and Otherlands seated us immediately, and the food was just as good.

Maybe the only time worth going if you’re hoping to go with friends is midweek.

I love the food and the service. But it's so loud when there are a lot of people. The only negative thing I can say about the place.

When we got there is wasn't that long of a wait. But when we sat down we waited 45 minutes for our food. People that came in after us got their food and left while we were waiting for our food. Then she comes over and asks if we need a box not even a couple of minutes after we got our food. Not happy

The food here is phenomenal and the portion sizes are massive! If you come on the weekend, expect at least a 20-30 minute wait because it's so good!

I seen this place recommended a lot on TikTok and decided to try it out for breakfast. We got there about 8:00 AM so it wasn’t super packed. Even when we left, it was just barely getting busy. The food was absolutely spectacular and will definitely come here again in the future!!!

I had an omelet which was very fluffy although they didn't hurt themselves with the goodies inside. I opted to swap the pancakes for potatoes. These were the best breakfast taters I've had in Wa so far. If only Wa chefs would discover adding onion to potatoes! My wife had the pigs in a blanket which she said was very good. Service was excellent. There was a 20-30 minute wait. The room has horrific acoustics, so it was quite loud.

Food was good, coffee was good. I don't know enough about wood to say if the door was made of Birch or not.

We had the pleasure of dining at The Birch Door Cafe in Bellingham, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Arriving at 8 AM, we found the restaurant already bustling—a testament to its popularity. Despite the crowd, the service was impeccable; the staff was attentive and efficient, ensuring we felt welcomed and well-cared for.

We indulged in their signature Apple Pancake, a dish that truly stands out. Baked to perfection, this souffle-like pancake is filled with freshly peeled apples and enveloped in a delightful cinnamon-sugar glaze. It's a must-try that lives up to its stellar reputation. The Corned Beef Hash was equally impressive, featuring hand-carved corned beef sautéed with peppers, onions, and home-style potatoes—a gourmet twist on a classic favorite.

The coffee was robust and flavorful, served with real cream, enhancing the overall dining experience. Parking was ample, making our visit convenient and stress-free. The Birch Door Cafe offers breakfast all day, with lunch options available Monday through Friday after 11 AM. They are open daily from 7 AM to 3 PM and do not take reservations, so plan accordingly. For those interested in takeout, orders can be placed online for pickup or delivery.

Overall, The Birch Door Cafe exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a memorable breakfast or brunch experience in Bellingham.

UPDATE: Another visit and another amazing breakfast! Eggs Nicole w/potatoes and Eggs Kory w/Pancakes. Delicious!

Amazing brunch spot, with fantastic food, great service ..but if you're a Canadian, except the bill to be astronomical! With a weak dollar, you're looking at over $100 CAD for 3 breakfast dishes and maybe a coffee, or two.

Still worth checking out, but sadly our dollar sucks and main entrees are usually around $20 USD per.

Classic breakfast type place which has some unique pancakes and other dishes. Good coffee and excellent service. Gets very busy around 9-10am. There will be a wait on the weekends. Never thought the food was anything to write home about though. Good, but often heavy and the portions vary wildly from way too much to not quite enough.
