Gateway 1890 Taphouse & Grill

Haven’t been here in SO long! But happened to stop by a few years ago on what now appears to be a long forgotten pasta Wednesday night. I had the absolute BEST chicken parm Alfredo and still crave it to this day. I follow along on their social media in hopes of seeing it pop back up one day. I would seriously make the drive from South Seattle just to have that again.

We go there for the fish and chips special and also the burger special … they have been pretty consistent with taste and service. Very disappointed to see no onion rings offered… when I order a burger I alway enjoy onion rings as they are a perfect pair. I know they would be a great sales item. Would make my next visit 5 stars if I saw them on the menu.

Got the what looks like the chicken breast bowl on top of mash potatoes covered in a delicious brown gravy. The chicken is very moist and tender covered in panko. The mash potatoes is the bomb. It’s pretty creamy mixed with green onions and cheese. Will come back in the future just for this. Server took awhile to gat to me though. The interior is pretty cool with wood interiors with world flags hanging from the ceilings. They also have outdoor patio too and a bar downstairs.

This is one of the best spots to hang out on the weekend in downtown Blaine! Super wide variety of beer and cider on tap, delicious mixed drinks, and a large selection of food options! I’d recommend any burger with sidewinders, but the schnitzel is incredible! Good vibes, always clean, great interior design, and the speakeasy is by far one of the coolest spots in Whatcom County! Support your local businesses!!!
