I stopped off for some ice cream on the way home from a motorcycle ride. A double dip waffle cone hit the spot!
The C Shop sells ice cream, popcorn (buttered or cheesy), baked goods, and the most scrumptious candy, especially chocolate. And the people who run it are super nice, too. They make their own chocolate and sweets. You can get prepackaged candy (for example, jelly beans or salt water taffy, etc.), or make a bag of your favorite flavors. There are some tables where you can sit outside. Really good place to stop for some ice cream or sweet treats on a trip to the beach.
This spot is only open during the summer, and then very select times after that. I wish it was open all the time, because their selection and service is just so awesome. Usually there is a line, but it's very organized. You go past the candy and home made treats, next to the popcorn and other treats, to the ice cream, and then after that, you pay. It's hard to come in for just ice cream without leaving with a few other things. We go every summer.
The C Shop is a remarkable landmark and is a VERY popular place for ice cream, candy, and a lot of divine creations that are all handmade on site. Snow cones, cinnamon rolls, hand dipped truffles...oh my! So much goodness under 1 roof.I DO miss the food they had served in the "café" side for years. The location is great, just a few steps to the bay...the selections are stellar and the service is great! The owner is a phenomenal man that has been a pillar of our community for a long time. You're pretty much going to HAVE to go check it out if you're coming to my neighborhood!
Off the beaten path for city dwellers, but the "C" shop is a gem. Fabulous sweets, homemade chocolate, and "fussed over" sno-cones make this quaint place a Whatcom county "must visit" site. Been going there for 30 years and we brought our five our kids there every summer. Should become your next Birch Bay destination! Enjoy!
Great ice cream and hand made chocolates. They also have great cinnamon buns. Hurry though they close for the season September 5th.
We had ice cream just prior to the Labor Day rush. Looking forward to when they bring pizza back next year.
They have the best vanilla ice-cream. Also the only place I've been to locally, that has Black Cherry ice-cream. Superb, with lots of cherries. Reminds me when Thrifty Drugs had ice-cream stands in their stores, but better. Honorable mention: Sticky Buns! Love them, but I'm restricted ... Negative: Only open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. ?
The C Shop is always a hit. With the parade passing, my 2 year old was enthralled with the 1947 Dunbar Popcorn Machine. The gentleman there was kind to explain the process and other old equipment to us.
Such a fun place!!! The truffles are TO DIE FOR (we literally took an entire tray!) and the salt water taffy was amazing! Friendly, attentive staff and clean establishment.

Always great desserts here, but don't bring Canadian cash... They don't take it any more. Canadian credit cards work though, but don't count on tap because they won't use it if they can avoid it. The new owners are cheaping out on debit/credit fees. But still the same c-shop treats you know and love. Edit: I've been informed ownership hasn't changed... So there may be some. Work the owners need to do to inform the locals of that, because I heard from more than just a few it was new owners. As for debit machines, why use two different systems? Train up on one and be done? I can understand the no foreign cash policy, but I can promise you that nearly anywhere you go in the entirety of Canada we will accommodate American money. Sure, you aren't a bank. But lots of gas stations all around you seem to manage just fine. There are a boat load of Canadian visiters, and owners, in Birch Bay (of which I am 1), something like accepting Canadian cash with a very clear exchange rate posted would simplify the process and help people just on a day trip be encouraged to spend their money.
Small candy sop with so.e ice cream and mostly chocolate s of variety. Husband was dreaming of soft red licorice...none there! Huge cookies for quite the price and so.e ice cream for sea side prices...I had a two scoops of huckleberry! YUM! Also bought two pricy chocolate chip walnut huge ? soft cookies to conclude the canyon shop visit!!!
Birch bay classic. My family and I absolutely love the C Shop. There’s a wide assortment of chocolate, candy and baked goods. I’d recommend the snickerdoodle cookie! 10/10, I would recommend it to anyone. The prices are higher compared to the average of some of the products, but only because they make it fresh in store, and much much better quality. Definitely worth what it costs, and some things seem like they should be more expensive for how good they are!
We love the C Shop! It's part of our summer! Great ice cream cones and a big selection of candy and chocolate. Wish they still had their awesome pizza!
Drove out to Birch Bay to find Cs. Waited in line while a very slow person very carefully wrapped 3 candies in a box for the person in front of me, meanwhile a line is forming. Then person begins to wrap another. 3...pieces...of...candy in a second box. A second person finally comes to help after about 8 minutes. Grabbed the person behind me and started helping them. This place isn't worth the wait truly, go to the candy shop in the outlet malls.
