Such excellent service....always!! The food is consistently the best. I have Roots there!!!

We went for lunch as we found their lunch menu more appealing and a better value. We started with the basil pesto white cheddar flatbread. It was very good and a good starter to share. My husband had the pastrami sandwich. It was very good and a generous portion. I had the linguine with lemon cream sauce, shrimp, asparagus and spring peas. It was outstanding - one of the better pasta dishes I've had in a restaurant. The portion was good. My only comment would be to possibly offer an option with chicken. We ate in the bar and it was quiet in our booth. The service was friendly and timely. If you want a little fancier lunch spot, I would recommend Roots.

Portions large. Dressing on beet salad overwhelmed the taste of the beets and veggies. Potato gnocchi was rich and overseasoned.

Dinner & deserts were fantastic. Also, great wine & drink selection. The service was also very good.

The food was AMAZING! The service was also very good we had a really good experience. Our server was very nice and gave good recomndations. We will definitely come back again!

Our overall experience at Roots Restaurant and Bar was, as always, outstanding. Our food was incredible and the customer service was fabulous.

Don't order the chicken. It takes over 30 minutes to prepare and it won't be worth the wait. The presentation is 4 stars. The chicken skin was crispy, but the chicken meat was tough and parched desert dry. You'll need to chew it forever and drink a lot of water to get it down.  The waiter did not inform us that the chicken would take more than 30 minutes to prepare until 20 minutes after the order was placed. It was not busy evening. I have no idea why the chicken would require so much time. If you order soufflé at a restaurant, they will tell you that it requires 30 minutes so if you want it, they prepare you for the wait. It's common courtesy to inform your patrons when a particular dish will require extra preparation time. Also, we go to a restaurant to relax, but this waiter is very pushy. It's quite unpleasant to get so much pressure to order extra food that you have no interest in consuming. It's like being served by a used car salesman. It's really not appealing. It is not relaxing.  It is very unpleasant to get so much pressure to order extra food that we have no interest in consuming. Then after to placing our order, we find out that one of the dishes we ordered will take much longer than expected. I'm not even sure why I'm giving you three stars. Maybe because the hostess is always very pleasant.  Maybe because the food presentation is thoughtful and appealing.  Maybe we should've going to The Hammond Kitchen & Craft Bar...

Selected this restaurant only because we were tired of going into busy Portland. So glad we did. Wonderful food all around. Great service too. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and was a great treat!

Roots NEVER disappoints...Service was fantastic, the food was outstanding and drinks were spectacular! this place beats any restaurant on the waterfront by miles!

Roots Restaurant and Bar is our all time favorite...!!! We love everything on the menu and the friendly service is super! We love the line caught salmon and The Roots Classic Bourbon Old is the absolute best!

Very good restaurant. Varied menu and flexible about substitutions. Well prepared food. Great tasting coffee that was well re-filled. Drink menu is very good. Pleasant staff. Would have preferred a lower noise level, but it was tolerable.

Another stellar meal and service all around. Drink pours are generous! The standout for me this time was the artichoke and asparagus linguini with lemon white wine sauce and parmigiano reggiano....it was beyond delicious!

The waiter gave a nice intimate corner, four of us said it was the most perfect meal my steak was so succulent and expert spice blend, loves the gourmet mushrooms, potatoes and brocrabi were still tender no overbearing sauce. The pasta with chicken and pork chop meals were hearty portions and all savored for lunch the next day

Thee best beef stroganoff I've ever had in my life. Our server was fantastic. Definitely a new favorite.
