Awesome food! Amazing atmosphere, and great service. Not to mention the incredible views of the gorge from the outdoor seating area! I have been coming to Backwoods for over a decade and they are hands down one of my all time favorite restaurants!
Best pizza & beer in the Gorge area. Love this place from the food, vibes, & staff!!
The veggie pizza was good! Cornmeal crust bottom, but I'm more of a bubbly sourdough type of gal. Ordered it with a side of pesto for dipping - no regrets.
Service was great and I liked the selections. I think the food is a little overpriced for what you get.
Backwoods Carson is on our "happy place" list. Not only do we just love take the drive "out back" for a day visit, but we also used their large tent for our wedding welcome event in May this year. We even came back after the wedding to stay in a cabin for a couple nights (cutest cabins ever) The manager and entire staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Not to mention, the food and beer (and wine!!) is fantastic. Thank you for being a part of our special memories Backwoods!
We didn’t take any pictures because we inhaled everything we ordered.
We were on town for a little over night parents escape and discovered Backwoods Brewing. It was easy to walk from where we were staying but parking is easy. There are several indoor and outdoor seating options available.
We were greeted with friendly and prompt service and, quite frankly, the best service we have seen of any type of restaurant in years.
We both had pizza for dinner - mine was GLUTEN FREE - and delicious. Typically gluten free pizza is not good the next day and this might have been better re-heated. If we are ever in the area again we would absolutely put this on the agenda.
Great pizza and beer.
10/10 experience!
The staff are friendly and attentive
The food is super good
The atmosphere is small town and fun
I even didn’t like my ale at all and our waiter took it off the bill
Ordered a large pizza, a salad, the mac and cheese, and a cider.
Totaled to around $60 before tip
They have surprisingly good merch and a non-profit foundation too!
Sure it’s not dirt cheap, but it’s 100% worth it
Get the mac and cheese!
It's a cool place for beers and super expensive food. No mixed drink menus, you kinda gotta ask the waiter what they're able to make it not. It's really a beer place. I ordered the cheapest food item I could find, which was a $10 brisket taco. Good but not $10 good. It's literally one out of two bars in Carson, that's why people go there...
SO happy to have stumbled on this absolute gem while exploring the WA side of the gorge for an afternoon. Our experience was 15/10 because of the people alone - Addison was our main person and she was just beyond awesome - helpful with all of our questions, super nice, patient, knowledgeable all around about the beer and menu and made some great recommendations which we took and appreciated very much. The s’mores beer was great and the NA kombucha was really refreshing. Food was awesome - we did a half and half pizza, salad, and pretzel sticks and had to tap out once we got to a slice of pizza each :) leftover pizza was great cold for a snack last night and reheated for lunch today. The location is super cozy, laid back, and had a fun vibe with the stickers on the wall and dog friendly stuff. Look forward to coming back and possibly staying at one of the cabins too (didn’t know about those until Addison let us know about them after we had been talking to her about our fluffernutter / trying to find places to stay that she was able to come with). Highly recommend this location 💕

Still have vegan cheese, and it's fantastic! Vegan cheese is not printed on the menu anywhere, you need to ask your server. They said it can go on anything instead of of the menu displayed cheese (salads, sandwiches, etc.) Their beers are labeled if lactose present. Unfortunately, all stouts have lactose right now. I can't say enough about how much you need this in your life! The Brew was awesome! I had the Copperline Amber and it was a nice smooth and mild flavor. Not overly hoppy at all. We followed that with a Reuben sandwich and the soup of the day. Both amazing! I was also able to try the Brisket sandwich and Brisket & Jalapeno pizza courtesy of our friends that ordered that. Five star for sure! This place was BUSY and still pulled off one of the best meals I've had along the Columbia River Gorge.
We stayed at the cabins nearby and ate here twice. The pizza was excellent especially if you got brisket on top. You can also get it kind of to take away and sit in their big yard in back on a picnic table and take in the views. A great place and of course many good beers on tap and you can also buy to take home. It gets busy but that’s ok just be a little patient get a drink and sit out back.
My friend and I spent a few hours here last Sunday to watch some football, drink some delicious beer, and enjoy some amazing happy hour apps (you must get the Teriyaki Ginger Edamame!!) Emily S. and Marissa looked after us and we couldn’t have had a more enjoyable and chill time sitting at the bar. Stop in here when you are visiting Portland, the beer is fantastic and the vibes are great.
The service was great, the food was amazing had the salads to start, then got a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza the tropic thunder with honey drizzle was the best, and then buffalo chicken on the other half was good. The beer selection is good and tasty.
