Horrible service. Tasting room staff rude and quite mean spirited to be honest. Not so fun for wine and dine.
It's a beautiful winery and restaurant that we had visited last year, and there was four of us visiting from Vancouver, BC celebrating our friends birthday. It was an extremely busy evening (Sep 19/2025) as there were 3 events going on including a wedding! Our table was near the courtyard and we could clearly see the service staff and management hustling quite a bit. One of the servers (Gil) was rushing and struggling balancing an overloaded dish tub over his shoulder and extra dishes in his hands. It appeared to be a very unsafe environment and once he had passed our table towards the kitchen, dishes began to slide out and crash to the floor near other customers who ran to help him. Then we witnessed Gil taking apart a large group table to its original setting alone. He was rushing and sliding tables and chairs, rather than someone helping him lift them more quietly. He seemed like a one man show, full of energy and focused on completing his task. With 3 events and regular dinner service, extra staff would have been a good idea! Our server Eric was attentive and cordial. We started with the Beet and Burrata salad, delicious and wished the beets were cut a bit larger as they were hidden in the salad. The mushroom caps were suggested by Eric and were amazing and so was the bread! The Italian Sausage and Spinach Cannelloni was very good but a tad too salty for all of us but the flavors were amazing. The Spicy Prawn Risotto was a big disappointment. We had ordered it with the prawns on the side as one of the girls is vegetarian. The prawns were plenty, plump and perfect! The risotto was such a small amount and it was not cooked through as the grains were still visibly raw. Eric took the risotto back and offered an alternative dish of Vegetarian Pasta Primavera. It was extremely bland, no sauce just noodles with some steamed veggies, that was also sent back. On a side note, we along with other patrons were given dessert menus when we were still eating our meals? Felt like we were being rushed out. Odd to have dessert menus now sitting on the table along with our meals and many other dishes. We did get a chance to talk to Gil and voice our safety concerns for him carrying the overload of dishes but he said he was totally okay and likes to work extra hard as he is trying to become a server. He was so pleasant and happy with the biggest smile refilling water glasses. He was so much more calm and relaxed in this position and truly loved his job. He's definitely a hard worker and an asset to your restaurant! We also got a chance to speak with the manager, Frank and told him about our experience celebrating our friends birthday. He was extremely patient and very understanding and offered our friend a bottle of wine to take home to enjoy. This was very generous of him. Overall our experience was just mediocre. Hoping to return next year and perhaps try your restaurant again but not on a busy evening.
Hands down the best winery in Chelan
Overrated and pretentious. We called at 6:30pm and were told we could come in come in for an appetizer and a glass of wine, but that the tasting room closed at 8. We arrived at 7:15 and waited 15 minutes at tasting room to get someone’s attention, only to find out that kitchen closed at 7. Pretty property and pretty view but the wine seemed just ok. And the sense of self importance was insufferable. Seriously. Who do they think they are? Go elsewhere to explore the Chelan AVA.
Wine was delicious, views were incredible, and the kind host even gave my wife some ice for her sprained ankle :)
Gorgeous views of sun kissed mountains and the blue waters of Lake Chelan, paired with delicious wines. Could not ask for a better place to spend an afternoon.
great view, amazing venue.
My wife and I got married at Tsillan Cellars this last June 2025. We could not have asked for a better wedding and that includes all the things that came with this winery. Sheri (wedding coordinator) was a pleasure to work with and this is a very popular wedding venue so a lot of things were nicely streamlined and fluid.
Here are some of the highlights:
1) Food 5/5
Starting from the cocktail bites to the main course, the food was fantastic. Food being great is one thing but for it to be a part of the show? Guests that we met after the wedding are still talking about the freshly served pasta station and personal meat carving station. We were worried as all couples are because you never know how things taste until the day of but we were so happy with it all!
2) Pictures 5/5
The venue has so many great places for pictures. There is a terrazo that people absolutely fall in love with at first sight. The vineyard with the lake and mountains in the background are an obvious. But even the dancing island is such a nice touch! There is one tree that obscures the view of the lake slightly but it all becomes part of the ambience and on the day of, we couldn't care less.
3) Sheri 5/5
Sheri had just recently onboarded and taken over as the wedding site coordinator. She managed and handled everything fluidly and was very easy to work with. She was incredible from start to finish. Her experience from a previous venue and willingness to work with you to make your own personal wedding were all instrumental in helping us feel confident in every decision.
All in all, you can tell we were happy. We hope you have as great of an experience as we did!
Awesome place for awine tasting.
The place is very wonderful! Everything is very nice but the service is not very good and high quality! We ordered a glass of wine each, but it is a quarter of a glass! The price varies from 16-20$ for a quarter ! I probably won't return to this winery🍷 again
Restaurantji Recommends
We absolutely love Tsillan Cellars. We signed up to be members even though we live in Texas. It's worth it! The service, and wine is fabulous. The restaurant on site is amazing, we highly recommend checking this place out!!
My husband and I visited this winery on a weekday afternoon. We were impressed from the moment we spotted the estate! The beautiful building and grounds set the mood for relaxation and splendor. We felt the cost for the wine tastings was quite reasonable. And if we purchased two bottles of wine, our wine tastings were free. We sampled and later bought the best red wine we have had in a very long time. We later found out it had been a big award winner this year. We sat outside in the beautiful surroundings which include water features and lovely natural habitats. There is even a gift shop with unique items to purchase. We would highly recommend a visit to this gem.
The food is wonderful but the atmosphere is the best with views of the vineyard and Lake Chelan. Stephanie, who served us, was so much more than a server…she recommended and educated us on the vineyards variety of grapes. It was fascinating and helped us in deciding what wines we wanted to buy! We highly recommend.
We had the most enjoyable experience today. Made reservations at Sorrento restaurant in Chelan connected with Tsillan winery. Got there and were seated at a beautiful table overlooking the lake in the shade. Had a great meal, great service, then went to the tasting room next door. Got great service and went to the patio to go do our tasting! Had a surprise visit from the owner and the man who started the winery. A pioneer of wine in this area. Shared my connection with the Hedges’s and so enjoyed talking to him. A testament to the passion of wine. 88 and still comes to the winery everyday. His light is still shining bright❤️ Bravo Robert (Bob) Jankelson. Thank you so much for the conversation and the beautiful bottle you signed for us. Thanks so much, Kathy and Joel
Nice view. Apparently no tastings past 7pm. Discovered too late 😀, at 7:10pm. Resting was not too bad, but the taste was soured by early closure...
