From a retired vet. NON SMOKING VET (Room smelling of smoke is just more bs from this place)
*Could not reach anyone during booking to check about power outage possibilities as I am on a CPAP machine
Guess what happened the first night? Power outage. No heat in the small cabin all night. My machine wouldnt work so I could not sleep. Nor could my wife. No phone calls the next day or ever for that matter. Wifi would not work and no calls anout that either. Restaurant had the worst hours. Location was at least an hour from anything meaningful.
Long story short- I didnt even bother trying to cancel or get moeny back for my lasty night. I left early. I couldnt risk the power going out and dying and not being able to get in touch with anyone/ I cut my loses and got out alive. Bigfoot? HaHa. Big foot wont kill you. Lone fir will.

Very nice cabins, extremely clean and well taken care of. Perfect location near Mt. St. Helens in Cougar Washington. Beautiful scenery, lakes and wildlife in the surrounding areas. Deer at the campground during the evenings. Restaurant is delicious and staff are extremely nice. Always enjoy my stay at Lone Fir Resort. The cabins have a fridge and microwave, some of the rooms have a kitchen stove. Prices are affordable. If you are looking for a wonderful getaway this is the spot.

Nearby activities: Pool and activity center

Noteworthy details: Very nice wood siding in the cabins

I have been stay here for work for a month. This place is a gem and great secret. I would have never thought of coming here if not for work. I will definitely come back in summer. The staff have been some of the best people i have had the pleasure to interact with. Service is outstanding and overwhelmingly friendly and sincere. No fakes here. If you are heading to MT St helens plan a stay with the fine folks of the lone fir resort.

Rooms: Some better than others but all nice. Beds could be a bit better but the service and people are great

Food and drinks: Nice menu and good drinks with positve and friendly bartenders.

So my wife thought cabin #10 would be an ideal place to stay when we went to the ape caves this weekend, but because they hate phones and want to take your money with no real guarantee that it's even open, since it's October, and some places and routes are already closed, this is a concern we wanted to address. But I guess they really do hate phones. They done even want to talk on phone if there's an on-site emergency. You leave the emergency, go to the office and ring a doorbell??!! Who does that?! Ding-dong..."Well, the kitchen's on fire, ... oh no wait,I guess the whole cabin is on fire by the looks of it, from way over here, I would have said something sooner, but I'm too old to run!!!" Whoops. Maybe you should get a phone that calls you guys.

We stayed at the Lone Fir Resort a few days ago for two nights. It is in a nice location if you’d like to hike to Mt St Helen’s. If you want to drive to the visitors center, it is quite out of the way.
The service was great. Friendly desk workers and cafe workers. The restaurant had great food however we did think it was very overpriced.
My only real complaint is the room. We had a 2 bedroom room on an upper level. To begin with, we were right over an industrial laundry room. This caused our room to smell absolutely horribly of mildew. The room was also dirty. The floors had dirt that you could feel under your feet when walking around. The bigger bed felt like it had dirt in the sheets - almost like grains of sand. The twin beds both had so many plastic protectors on them that you couldn’t move without waking up someone else.
Finally, the stairs leading up to our room looked extremely unstable. They felt creaky and old when walking on them. We looked at them from across the way and you can see in my attached photo that it looks like the stairs may give out at any minute (the bottom of the left post). From then on we were sure to only have one person walking on them at a time. Definitely something that needs to be fixed before someone gets injured. The wood is rotting and dangerous.
Overall I would recommend it if you’re looking for a nice quiet place on that side of the mountain. Otherwise, I would look for a more reliable hotel.

Absolutely adorable resort! The perfect distance to hiking Mt. St. Helen’s. The cabin was clean and comfortable - we slept great. Excellent food in the restaurant, too!

We stayed in one of the little lodges, so cute and clean. The restaurant was ok but a chef salad would be nice. Need something in between on the lighter side. The staff couldn’t have been nicer.

The cabin was more than we expected. We were very comfortable.

Rooms: The rooms were spacious. The only improvement we could think of would be to have more lighting over the bathroom sink. And there is never enough room for the 4 of us to store our toiletries in the bathroom.

Food and drinks: Everything we ordered was delicious!

Noteworthy details: Better communication about the change in hours for the office and restaurant. Fortunately, we got our coffee fix right across the street!

This is a great place too stay for anything having to do with the south side of Mt St Helens. Ape Cave, Lava Canyon, Climbers Bivouac, and other amazing trails are right down the road. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We stayed in cabin 6 for the week. It was nice having a full kitchen, with all the basics supplied. The rooms are not serviced daily for environmental concerns, but anything needed was easily obtained. The next time we're in the area, we will stay here again.

Food and drinks: The food at the restaurant was delicious. Not just basic fare, but some surprisingly creative tastes. Goat cheese on a pizza? Sure! A delicious burger smothered in mushrooms? Absolutely. A Huckleberry margarita? Yummy.
