Very nice restaurant downtown of Ellensburg. We had breakfast. Service was great. Menu was great. Food was tasty. From that location, one can explore downtown easily.
My party had breakfast and dinner here. Both were excellent. Service was superb. The atmosphere is relaxing. No rush to eat and run. I had the fish and chips. The best fries I have had in a long time.
This was a convenient, classic meeting place for brunch with my teenage son and my mother in law. Love the decor in this place - vintage trains, planes, etc. My pancakes and eggs were just fine - appreciated that I could get strawberries without the whipped cream. My son loved his Oreo milkshake and his first omelette ever. My only complaint was the closeness of the booth seating - both to the other diners and also to me (table was too tight to my front). Not comfortable. I’m sure we’ll be back but will be more choosy about seating.
Atmosphere was good. Unique historical photos. Service was good, breakfast enjoyable. I had the breakfast sandwhich on an English muffin. Delicious. My husband had the hash with gravy. We would visit again.
My takeout was ready when I arrived and the staff was friendly. I think there is not much to compare in Ellensburg so if this review is limited to this city, it would rate four stars.
"Prime rib sandwich" was a few slices of shaved beef roast on toasted white bread, smothered in gravy to cover the crime.
Their online site, not a 3rd party menu, shows a different special than what is on special. When I ordered the food and I asked and got a hurried response. When picking up the food the price was reflective of their full price, not the special price. When I asked the lady said that the item i Ordered was not on special. I commented on their website and she said it was weird but not their special. I paid full price. When i returned to work i loaded their website again to double check and it definitely shows the special as the item I ordered. Surprised they would not honor their price online despite it being wrong. I only ordered the item i ordered because it was the special. I will add that i generally like their food but have been surprised at their level of customer service lately. This is not my first experience with bad pricing or generally poor customer service here in the last year. Food is as I said good but you may overpay for it and the service will be lacking.
Horrible service. I tried to call back and speak to the manager. Got hung up on so I called back and the manager couldn't come to the phone!
I had the reuben and it was good, decent, nothing to rave about. It did have a lot of meat, maybe too much and it was a tad dry. I would go back and try something else. The staff was very good, nice and helpful with food choices.
I had wanted to visit the Palace Cafe for a long time, but never had the chance. One day last fall, my grandson and I popped in for breakfast. We were excited to see our favorite shareable meal: biscuits and gravy. Yum! Local diners usually make the best B/G - but not the Palace. It was ho-hum at best. We didn't finish it. The service was okay, but not great, either. Overall a middle of the road experience. I probably wouldn't hurry back.

One of the best breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. I am very particular about Eggs Benedict but had to try Palace’s as they advertise it is the best-“guaranteed!” Well, it was the best I’ve had in a restaurant. The sauce was perfect and it was the right amount of meat/egg ratio to sauce and muffins. The hash browns are perfectly cooked as well. Others enjoyed the breakfast sandwich, traditional egg/bacon breakie, and a cinnamon roll. Everyone left happy and full. Great service too!
My husband and me hopped off the freeway in Ellensburg on our way home to Idaho after a vacation near Seattle. I had read some reviews online and it was easy to have Google add in the stop on our map to get great directions. It was just about noon on a hot summer day when we found a parking space right in front of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were warmly welcomed, and as our eyes adjusted to the blessedly cool, dim interior we were led to a booth, and supplied with menus and water. The menu is varied and since breakfast is served all day there's something there for just about anyone. I am an adventurous eater (not at all fussy) and my husband is more on the picky side. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and a glass of iced tea. A bacon breakfast burrito wa the choice of my husband. Our food arrived fairly quickly. It was hot and fresh, the portions were of a size that means if you leave the table hungry, it's your own fault. As expected I had no issues with my chicken fried steak and eggs. It was tasty and well prepared, the gravy was marvelous. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much my husband enjoyed his breakfast burrito, he was especially happy with the homemade salsa that was served with it. We were able to eat at our leisure and never felt rushed. The one thing I do wish is that I had been offered a refill on my iced tea, at $3.09 it was a bit steep to have only had one glass. The next time you find yourself passing through Ellensburg on the freeway take the slight detour to eat at The Palace Cafe. You'll be well cared for, and enjoy a great meal.
I had the salty tomato basil soup, the only vegetarian item on the menu. Others had hamburgers. The bill came to $50, very expensive for what we got.
We were so happy to see the restaurant open and that the food was just as high quality. We like the rustic look and charm of the Palace. The food is served with large portions so if you go hungry it's not their fault. I like the Old West themed atmosphere since it reminds me of home. To the person who referred to you as disgusting, if you're wanting foo-foo food go to Bellevue and eat there. Your kind probably don't like Rodeos either. Glad they are open again and we will be stopping here anytime we head west. Always glad to stop here for a nice meal.
Love this place because the service was friendly and prompt, our breakfast was yummy American fare, and the historic ambiance was full of Ellensburg charm.
