Not impressed. Ordered two Philly Sub’s with crispy fries ($18/ea.) - i’ll start by saying the philly had so much potential but the meat lacked flavor. Same with the ribs (1/2 rack for $20). They slapped some bbq sauce on their meats and called it good - no seasoning. The bread on the philly sub was a toasted pretzel like bun? awful. The crispy fries probably had potential but by the time we got home, they were soggy so the 6mo enjoyed them. I was really disappointed in this meal.

We stopped in for takeout and were blown away! I ordered the Rocky Mount meal with mac & cheese and sweet tea, and my fiancé got the Burlington meal with fries. We split an order of fried pickles, and everything was incredible. The pickles were hot and crispy with the perfect spicy ranch, the mac & cheese was creamy and delicious, the coleslaw had just the right sweetness, and the meat was unbelievably tender and flavorful.
While waiting, my fiancé ordered a No-Li beer, and they even brought it out with a chilled glass—such a thoughtful touch! The sweet tea was spot on (I lived in South Carolina and Louisiana for 9 years, and this is the real deal). The whole place smells amazing the second you walk in, the vibe is fun with great classic rock playing, and it’s spotless—even the bathrooms were super clean.
This is clearly a family-run spot with a great story and a military family behind it. The service was quick and so friendly, and the food absolutely exceeded our expectations. Betty Jean’s BBQ is a gem in Spokane—we’ll definitely be back!

We'd not had bbq from North Carolina so we weren't sure what to expect. The meat was really well cooked with a rich smokey flavor, the bbq sauce was a great mix of sweet and tangy (vs. Carolina sauces we had before that were super tangy), green beans with a bit of kick, really flavorful cole slaw, and a good cheesy Mac n cheese. I'm really picky about cole slaw, which is often bland/flavorless to me, so I was very impressed by theirs. The service was thoughtful and efficient. We highly recommended Betty Jean's and would eat here again.

When I say to you that this is hands down the best bar b que in spokane. Trust me I mean just that. Ribs are perfectly smoked fall right off the bone. Mac n cheese melts in your mouth. Oh and the green beans fried pickles were all a hit. And the fresh lemonade made me do a double take. Not yo mention the service. The service was so great.i haven't had food this good in all the 7 years I have been in spokane.

Relatively long ticket time for a counter service joint where most of the food is precooked by nature. About 22 minutes as a single customer with only 2 other tables seated. The flavor of the meats is good. Spareribs are obviously cooked by someone with a lot of experience. Portions are a bit more than you would expect from a family run BBQ place.
That being said, for how prominent the N.C. branding is, I didn't find a lot of what I think of when I'm imagining N.C. barbeque. No yellow vinegary sauce, no rolls come with the platters, the coleslaw is not bad but again doesn't remind me of the 8 or so places I have visited in North Carolina
The hushpuppies, which reviewers rave about, aren't really hushpuppies at all. They are cinnamon sugar donut holes, complete with a doughy center. If there's any cornmeal in here at all, it's so little that it doesn't affect the crumb. There's nothing wrong with them, except that they aren't the thing that they're called. They're dessert, with or without the sugar butter.
The real kicker is that, unlike literally every single BBQ place I have ever been in my entire life, there is no sauce at the tables or included with even the large platters. A $.75 charge creeps on your check for each modest portion of sauce you ask for. This just feels wrong to me; it is antithetical to the entire experience of BBQ to be stingy with the sauce.

My one star is only because I had been waiting All day to try this place and google said they open at 3:00 pm when I get there the sign on the door says they open at 4:00 and I was very hungry so I went across the street to Patrons authentic mexican. in closing they really need update their hours on Google so they aren't losing customers to the competition
Well I made it back today and the only disappointment is that I didn't get to eat here yesterday the ribs are definitely the finest in all the land I will be back and I'm sorry that I stayed so late I never even looked at the closing time I'm just not doing very good wit figuring out y'all's hours I will do better in the future

One of my favorite places to go when I’m craving soul food. The food is outstanding and the customer service is amazing as well. They are all very personable and nice whenever me and my partner go in. The Mac and cheese is hands down my favorite but you can never go wrong with anything on their menu it’s all excellent.

Just another overpriced BBQ joint... this was $25. Tasted ok for Spokane standards. Don't let the rib fool you, it was all bone. Worth it? I'll leave that up to you

The pulled pork was so salty that I would not order from there again. The hush puppies were over cooked.

This has been exactly what my wife and I have been searching for when it comes to BBQ in Washington! The Mac n cheese was so creamy with a hint of sweet. The ribs were so juicy and tender with so much flavor! We will be making trips back to Spokane specifically for this place!
