Black Agave absolutely blew me away. The food is vibrant, generous, and layered with flavor in every bite. I ordered the queso fundido topped with tender steak, roasted corn, poblano peppers, and fresh cilantro, and it was easily one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. The balance of smoky, savory, and creamy was perfect, and it came out looking like pure art on a plate.
The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the vibe of the place made it feel like both a special night out and a spot I’d want to keep coming back to with friends. You can tell they take pride not only in the food, but in creating an atmosphere where people feel welcome.

We have never had a bad meal at Black Agave. Large portions, fun drinks, and a huge menu ensures there’s always something for everyone. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and the food is several steps above the runny lard filled beans and dry overpriced meat at other places, making dinner feel more like a family affair than “going out to eat”. The restaurant is tucked into downtown like a hidden gem away from the interstate or industrial areas. Hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.
We have also used Black Agave for catering. Mary and the crew were able to feed our entire group (and have leftovers!) and still come in under budget. Carne asada, rice, beans, two salsas, tortillas, and fajita veggies were ready exactly at the specified pick up time and guests were impressed by the quality.
I’d also recommend asking for their “spicy” off-menu salsa if you’re up to it. Perfect blend of flavor and hearty kick.

The food is consistently delicious and the service has never been bad. Unfortunately, I asked just a little bit ago and they threw away all of their old menus even though it looks like it's the same food. One of the people I always come with has dyslexia and their current, fancier menus are extremely difficult for them to read, which leaves them embarrassed and frustrated. It would have been nice if they kept just a few on hand for folks with issues reading. As is, I'm thinking of screenshotting older menus other users took to print out for later.

This waittrss at Black Agave restaurant today is always rude! She is the only one that ever has a problem with me and my daughter doing our visit's at this restaurant!
