Overrated teriyaki. Deserves less than 4 starts. Food is average or slightly below. Chicken had no flavor, looked spongy. Beef also was average teriyaki beef. Service was 0 for me. They were polite and friendly to other people, but for me rude and unfriendly to me. The salad it comes is tiny in sauce cup. More than 30 minute wait if you didn't order online.
Drove for 40 minutes only to find out they're closed until June 12. Wasted time!
Heard the original owner cooks the food here. Tried it, not sure if the original teriyaki chicken was better than other Toshi's, but I was hungry and it tasted really good. The chicken was not dry and the sauce had a hint of sweetness, not overtly sweet like most places. Would go again if I happen to be in the area.
Best beef teriyaki in the pnw!
The OG of Seattle Style Teriyaki
The original toshi's location. Food quality much better than the toshi's near my house, and bigger portion sizes too! Take out only was a little sad, but it's a really small little place. Great food, no overhead.
I have been supporting Toshi's restaurants for decades. Best teriyaki chicken in the Seattle area. The chicken is juicy and flavorful with a light char. The sauce is better than any other in the Seattle area with a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. The coleslaw is crunchy and tasty without an excessive amount of sauce on it. The rice is not overcooked as is frequently the case at other teriyaki restaurants. The menu is very limited and it is not unusual to walk in and find they are out of all entrees except for one. The hours are also very limited. They are open only a few days during the week (never on weekends) and only at lunch time for a few hours, after which they close and open again for a few hours at dinner time. Good luck with trying to call in an order. There are several more restaurants in the area with the same name and most seem to be in the 425 area code and have women with a limited command of English who answer the phone. You can ask over and over again if you are calling the Mill Creek restaurant and can be told Yes, Yes. Don't believe them. If you want food from the Mill Creek restaurant, go there in person and order your food. Otherwise, you could be placing an order at a different restaurant that is miles away. The service at the Mill Creek restaurant is the worst I have experienced at any teriyaki restaurant. Certainly, not the polite behavior anyone who has been to Japan has experienced. The woman who is usually at the register has become rude and unfriendly. In the early years, after they opened at this Mill Creek location, she was a little guarded but still somewhat friendly. I don't know what happened to her but after COVID hit, she was outright rude and hostile. I don't appreciate having my order tossed at me or to have her rush from behind the counter in an intimidating manner to grab a business card from my hand after she handed it to me. Watch your credit card statements because the system they use may charge you for other people's orders. In one case, I was charged for at least two meals when I ordered only one. The restaurant is very small, has no tables (removed during COVID), but the facility seems to be kept clean.
It's a simple but very tasty style of teriyaki. I would recommend it to anyone. We tried all of them and all were perfectly marinated and cooked. The beef was a surprise treat, and the katsu was a home style preparation. Each was tender with subtly deep flavors and not too sweet. Glad to try the original.
The original Seattle teriyaki and an absolute classic. Bought 5 bottles of sauce to take home to Vancouver to boot. Very friendly service and the best teriyaki I've ever had, very flavourful, balanced and well cooked.
Great tasting teriyaki! Got the beef and chicken combo dinner. Take out only. Located in a fairly large shopping center across the lot from Safeway. Came from the Wedgewood area and it was worth the 40 minute drive (Friday night at 4pm).

The teriyaki chicken was like a dream. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Horrible experience.
After seeing hundreds of posts about toshio and his “legendary teriyaki” I am absolutely disgusted at my experience. Drive all the way from Seattle to show a friend who started teriyaki..
The steak was inedible, chewy and fatty. The chicken was dry and bland. And the rice.. well you can’t screw up white rice so.
Ended up taking only 2 bites and getting food poisoning and had to throw it away.. and you know what. As a manger in the industry for 14 years. That pisses me off. 30 dollars and a tank of gas down the drain for nothing. And we ended up having to spend another 50 bucks on dinner because we obviously didn’t eat anything.

This place is a hidden gem. My favorite dish is the combo (beef plus chicken). Their coleslaw is amazing, I mix it with my rice, fantastic! Prices are great too. You can't go wrong with Toshi's.

The best Teriyaki in Seattle.
I come here all the time for lunch and usually go with the beef teriyaki, or combo (chicken & beef).
The the staff are friendly, the food is prepared quickly, the portions are large, it's a great price, and it's always delicious.
Only their service hours could be improved as they are only open Tue-Fri, & close between lunch and dinner.
However, as long as the quality stays the same I'm okay with it!
