I had the two-meat plate with two sides. I chose brisket and pulled pork for the meats, with macaroni and potato salad as the sides. The macaroni and potato salad were nothing extraordinary—fairly standard, as expected.

As for the meats, the pulled pork was tender and moist but lacked juiciness. The brisket, unfortunately, was a bit of a letdown—it was slightly dry and not as tender or juicy as I’d hoped. The flavor was somewhat there, but the texture just didn’t deliver.

Service was average. The waitress was kind and patient, which I appreciated, but nothing particularly stood out.

I liked the layout and setup of the place. However, it was a bit too dark—improved lighting would really help enhance the ambiance.

Would I recommend it?
I’d recommend trying it once. It’s worth a visit, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for a return trip.

We had food delivered/set-up for a 'Celebration of Life' by J&L BBQ. We had never tried this place, and we can't say enough good things about them. The Beef Brisket was the best I've ever had! The chicken thighs were exactly what I hoped for...large, smokey, MOIST! The Cowboy Caviar was excellent! Also, I normally don't like cornbread because it's so dry. This cornbread was so moist, and it could even be enjoyed with no honey/butter...it was delicious! Everyone raved about the food. We especially want to complement our delivery person (Rance?). He was so kind and accommodating. We highly recommend this place, and the owner Joel was extra special for us!

J and L is the real deal. I had pork ribs and they were delicious. I tried both BBQ sauces. The mild was pretty good, sweet and smoky. I didn't like the spicy as much. The peppers overpowered the sauce. It tasted more like a tomatoey hot sauce rather than a BBQ Sauce. I ate about 1/2 the ribs with no sauce and that's the way to go. They are nice and smoky and they don't need sauce. The baked beans and coleslaw were very good as well. Lunch time and only a couple of folks dined in. They did a steady take out business. Easy parking.

A few weeks back came in looking for some grub to share with friends. Talked to owner, gave us a tasty sample of brisket, moist. The texture was perfect. The almond smoke is something new to me (being from Texas we prefer heartier, richer woods and I have a high standard for good bbq). The almond smoke had a subtle yet pleasant flavor. The ribs were perfect, smoke in cherry and fall off the bone. Will be back.

First time ordering from J and L and let me tell you - Carol Anne was a gem on the phone. Super friendly and made perfect recommendations for our order, and filled me in on how Texans do their BBQ. We ordered takeout and she threw in a couple extras to test as well. All the meat we tried was delicious, but the show stopper was the jalapeno andouille sausage. Their corn bread is a must order too.

Going in again this week to try it at the restaurant. Thanks again to you, Carol Anne. You made me a happy person today.

Food is Best BBQ and sides in the PNW !! J and L BBQ is legit fresh homemade food from a real authentic Texan. The service was outstanding and it made my day !😁 Please call in or get here early before they close because the food is fresh and when it's gone it's gone ... It's slow cooked 5star brisket than melts in your mouth no chewing needed... The coleslaw is 5star as well best I ever tasted on both ! Fresh sliders and the cowboy caviar tastes even better than it sounds. This is a must try, and it's very affordable for the heathly portion sizes 😁
I would give 5stars for atmosphere if there hadn't been people pounding on the door to get in, but the food was gone and it was very close to closing time. Be kind to each other please. Have some southern Hospitality like they show us !!

Great BBQ! Portions are big. The tri-tip sandwich was fabulous and make sure you pick cornbread as a side. Great service and quick. Perfect stop on your way through Monroe.

Good food. Tasty meats. Sometimes it might be slightly dryer than normal not s huge issue. But so far I've been pleased with the food. Only two BBQ sauces (spicy and regular). Sides are good as well.
