Extremely rude servant or owner there. I will never go again. Changing restaurant name doesn’t do anything.

I live in Mukilteo and have been coming to this Thai restaurant regularly for their coconut soup and papaya salad—both of which I’ve always found excellent.
On my most recent visit, I brought some friends with me. We ordered two portions of coconut soup with seafood and two Pad Thais. One of my friends, who was very hungry, received his Pad Thai first and started eating right away. He immediately commented that it was extremely salty.
A few minutes later, my Pad Thai arrived—and it was perfectly seasoned. I let him and the others try mine, and they were surprised at how completely different it tasted from his.
We also noticed that the coconut soup with seafood came with crab sticks instead of real seafood.
We brought all of this to the attention of the waitress, who casually explained that the Pad Thais had been cooked by two different chefs. That was it—no apology, no offer to fix the dishes, and no acknowledgment of the soup issue.
I felt bad for recommending this place, especially since my friends didn’t enjoy their meals. We were given a $4 discount, but this wasn’t about the money—we didn’t ask for compensation. We simply wanted to have a good meal and a nice time, but ended up disappointed with both the food and the service.
I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and works on improving consistency, ingredient quality, and customer care.

Overall: Good!
The food was pretty tasty, and the ambience was nice. However, the service was a bit lacking unfortunately. We were sat immediately, and asked if we wanted waters, after saying yes we sat for 15 minutes, mind you the restaurant had one other table sat aside from us. After the 15, our order was taken and we didn't receive the waters until our other drinks were served. I also requested no onions in my dish, and received onions unfortunately.
Either way, the food was yummy.

I just found this place and it is immediately already one of my favorites as I just moved here. The customer service is awesome. The food is damn good and damn quick. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very nice, it's pretty quiet and there are a lot of indoor plants that they are taken care of and also have a pretty nice layout and big open space for when it is busy and cute decorations. I am kind of a stickler for my favorite things which are the fresh rolls and either pad see ew or pad Thai either one I highly recommend! When I eat more, I will report back ha ha

The food was fine but when I was in last I witnessed the owner yelling at some customers which was extremely uncomfortable. I won’t be returning.

Formerly Thai Rama. New ownership. Service is very disappointing. Owner waited on us with a full mouth of food. Neither he nor the other server could make any of the cocktails on the menu (bartender was off). This place had a great local following before change in ownership

There's a weird thing about Pad Thai, the ubiquitous Thai noodle dish. Too many local places make it with ketchup. Ugh! Making it with tamarind seasoning is the only way to get close to an authentic dish for this marvelous cuisine. And that's why you need to order from Hot Basil Thai Kitchen. I've tried several local Thai spots; this is the one that gets it right!

I have never had red curry without rice before.
Oh well.
But everything was too sweet.

NO FOOD SAFETY RATING POSTED. (Illegal)
This place has really taken a hit on its quality of food since the change in ownership/management. When the food came out there was an overwhelming smell that was quite alarming.
The fried rice was almost as if it was frozen prepackaged fried rice with boiled chicken added to it. Missing the veggies that the menu had listed, and with the large price increase they have induced one would think that would add to your experience. Fortunate to have experienced the original Thai Rama and will not be returning to the sorry excuse that isn't worth being in it's shadows.

I placed an online order to go. I picked up my food. I got the advertised salmon and fries. There is even a picture on the website. However all I received was small 6 pieces of salmon. When I went back for my advertised fries. Their response was no sorry, That was a mistake on the website. What a freaking rip off. Personally they should have just gave me the fries. The food was fine, nothing special. Will not be going back. That is probably why the place is always empty.

It might be just me, but I wish the food were less sweet especially the noodles.

We just do not understand the background music (lunch) they play in such a beautiful restaurant. It does not suit or fit the atmosphere or image. The music is too loud and too hard. We will go there more often if the music was more relaxed, and Thai oriented. This is the only reason we give the lower rating

The menu description was not what I got.
I ordered takeout, potstickers, Thai Rama fried rice, and Chicken Over Rice-5 star, which the menu description said was chicken sauteed in fresh garlic, with bok choy, onions, carrots, baby corns, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. What I got was dingy-looking chicken that wasn’t even 1-star as far as spiciness. The only veggies in there from that description were the carrots and onions. No bok choy, baby corns, or bamboo shoots. When I called to request a refund for the one item-the chicken over rice they told me to bring it back and argued with me that my order wasn’t wrong before even allowing me to tell them what the issue was. The potstickers were also doughy and chewy with barely any meat. Now, I used to live in Mukilteo and eat here when it was “Thai Rama”, and always had a great experience with good food…so I was craving it and drove 30 minutes from where I now live to get it. So, it was my fault for not opening up the boxes to double-check the orders were correct, but they had the bag all tied up so I took it and left. I didn’t realize the mess-up until I got home…and at that point I’m not spending another hour to drive there and back to drop off the food that they messed up on. I couldn’t believe how rude the woman was when I called. And then she ended up telling me to keep the food and hung up on me. No refund, no apology for their error. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! We will never go to Hot Basil Thai Kitchen again…and I’m so sad to say that. Not sure if it’s new owners, management or what but in the 20ish years I’ve went there, I’ve never remotely had an experience like this.
