I took my family here for a little afternoon treat while they still had their gingerbread house decor. It's set up really cute but the store is very small inside. Not good for large groups, but we made it work. We chose the ice cream charcuterie, a hot chocolate flight and some individual hot chocolates. The kids loved the ice cream spread. So many ice cream options and we loved all of the toppings that were included. The hot chocolate flight was good and I was able to try 4 flavors (peppermint, caramel chai, gingerbread and s'mores) but they were a little rich. I'd come back here again but not on a weekend due to parking.
CONS: Parking is a nightmare!!

It's something you (or someone you know) likely saw on social media. Casting aside influencers and such, it's a fun little holiday stop to hang out and have some hot chocolate.
Some of the flavors are mild to strong, and the Thanksgiving sandwich was probably the best thing they have on the menu. I didn't do ice cream, but they had a lot of fun flavors - and I think the ice cream would have been a fun thing to float with some of the stronger flavors (s'mores must have used a chocolate that was darker than dark).

Drove over 50 minutes to try out the hot chocolate flight. Was told upon arrival that this was not being offered anymore - pretty weird because there were two tables there that were already having this.
Tried to order the gingerbread smores instead and was told that they were out of gingerbread cookies.
Yo - these are two out of the four features menu items and you can't make it?
Got a single hot chocolate instead which was pretty good but disappointed overall.

I have been following Frosty Barrel on social media for a while. This year we decided to take the drive (Tacoma to Newcastle) to check it out. It was worth the journey. Such a cute establishment for the holiday season. We chose to do the ice cream charcuterie board, along with a few holiday drinks. Such a great time. I would highly recommend!

On a Sunday afternoon, I waited 10 minutes in line only to be told at the front that they were out of milk and couldn't make most of the drinks. I saw milk drinks being served as I was leaving, but ok. Even if it's a popular season, shouldn't a hot chocolate shop keep important ingredients in stock? Or at least put a sign up to let people in the long line know. I wouldn't waste my time here again.

Cute lil place with a nice atmosphere but seating is limited especially in the winter. I’ve been there a few times and had some good ice cream but hadn’t returned since the summer as I was denied service bc I walked in with my dog. I understand not allowing pets but this next time I returned they allowed a customer to sit with their dog inside so that was frustrating.
We ordered food this time and I’d give it 2/10. We ordered a Margarita Flatbread with salad and hot chocolate flights with ice cream. The flatbread was not worth the money.. bland and barely had any cheese on it.
The hot coco flight w ice cream was good tho 8/10. But didn’t come with indicators of the flavors and pairing so we guessed.
I understand a majority of their workers are young but the quality of service is not consistent. I want to support small business but i’m afraid this place isn’t worth the hype.
you WILL not find seating here. if you want to wait and quite literally fight for a seat, come here. you can’t order things without a table either. so either come on a random weekday when it won’t be busy, or bet your butt you won’t be getting seats

Nice little ice cream shop in New Castle. We got the hot chocolate flight with pairings. Comes with 4 hot chocolates and 4 ice cream pairings of the shops choice. Hot chocolate was a traditional hot chocolate, s'mores, ginger, and an apple pie one I think. The ginger was the worst one by far we both hated it but the others were very good. The s'mores being the best, lots of dark chocolate and little char on it.
The 4 ice creams we got were ginger bread, apple pecan, vanilla, and cranberry. Our favorite was the ginger bread, it was so good I highly recommend just getting that ice cream. Vanilla was average, apple pecan was good with large pecans, and cranberry was fine.
I do think this place is a little over hyped due to the decor and location, however they do have some really good ice cream like the ginger bread.
Also very packed and hard to get parking so avoid peak times. Lots of kids as well so if you don't like kids it might be a del breaker.
We will definitely be coming back to try their tipsy hot chocolates 😉.
