Wish I had gone sooner! What a hidden gem in Newport. I will be back. So many great options. Love the outside seating.

When I first saw the sign out front and it said something with tofu I got the wrong impression of the food they served. We decided one day to try it out. So glad we did. The food is phenomenal! The menu is small enough to keep things simple while still having enough variety to please most people. Menu changes quarterly (don't quote me on that being the time frame for sure but something close to that.) Prices are a bit high but reasonable and worth it. I have been full and had leftovers after ever meal there. I fully recommend this place. Oh and there was only one tofu menu item so my previous viewpoint was wrong.

Brownells’ in Newport, Washington is a hidden gem, although you’ve likely driven by on your way to Priest Lake or one of the many recreation points along Pend Oreille River. The food is upscale and homemade, with an exquisite attention to flavor and detail. I ordered the Coco Mahi, as our recent vacation in Maui left me longing for island flavors. Not only did it hit the mark, it rivaled similar dishes I ate on the island. My husband enjoyed The Original Gangster (epic smash burger with a house made Challah bun). Brownells’ is not only a local favorite, but a first-choice recommendation from locals like us. Service is spot-on, too, and summer weekends on the patio often feature live acoustic tunes.

An unexpected secret Chef makes this establishment far superior.

We had the sweetest experience. Fabulous food. Sat on the patio in the shade on a warm day with a cool breeze and it was lovely. Our server was really sweet and we were blown away with the lunch menu. Loved the steak wrap, firecracker chicken and the challah appetizer…the bowl with pulled pork and the burger were very hearty portions. We will be back!

✨ YUM & YESSS! ✨

We are brand new to Newport and are so happy we stumbled upon this place as one of our first experiences!

We have our doggie so we love pet friendly patio places, which is certainly the case here. We were first greeted at the door and welcomed to the patio. Within moments, we received a carafe of cucumber lemon water that was poured for us as we ordered our drinks. We were very happy with the lemon basil and huckleberry ciders but even more impressed with the food! We shared the coconut mahi-mahi with a pineapple beer sauce but not before we enjoyed the amazingly delicious Challah bread. It’s a house made, herb & cheese infused thick sliced toasty bread that was sooo tasty paired with the home made tomato bisque.

Our service was great both times as not only was she efficient, but made sure to describe the menu very thoroughly, making sure we knew that most everything is made in house. And you can taste it! ((That garlic aioli thoooo))

The aesthetic is a modern, fun, bright and welcoming environment with beautiful artwork, local features, and comfortable seating both inside and out. There’s even live music on Fridays and Saturdays which enhances the relaxing atmosphere in a great way.

We’ve been here 2 weeks and already visited twice! We still need to return on a night that we’re hungry for dessert bc that brownie sundae will be worth it!

Very much recommended. 🌟

I had the special of the day. A hand trimmed new york strip chicken fried sandwich and fries. The sandwich was excellent, tender almost melt in your mouth. Fries were perfectly cooked and a large portion.

The service was excellent. Josslyn was very friendly and even though it became very busy, she was attentive and checked on me several times.

I will definitely be back.

Very welcoming, presentation, appreciated, every plate... of the 4 courses we had were flawless flavor with full palette. I'm still looking for the right words, but truly appreciate the flavors and work put into all the sauces, the pumpkin soup of the day was perfect! As a chef in a kitchen, I can appreciate and acknowledge the amount of time, and clean up, each dish takes to create. A nice gentleman was playing some music for the crowd, very nice too. I will definitely be be through again.
Many restaurants, I leave feeling like I should have cooked at home, and I left here feeling like I could learn a thing or two or it was done better than I could do, and it would have taken a full day of prep and cooking to pull it off. So thank you to the team there, we appreciate you guys.

I had been here a few times for a work lunch and they were decent $30 cheeseburgers, but I wouldnt have returned. My parents were visiting from Seattle and normally we have to go to spokane or cda for nice dining, but they were convinced by the reviews that this was worth a try. I didn't protest.
We had to send back Sashimi pork on behalf of my timid mother, who was going to just eat around it. The cook yelled at the server about how the menu states the pork is supposed to be cooked medium. The pork looked like seared Ahi on the salad.
The chef seems classically trained, the technique is fine but slightly salty. I can see why some people think its nice. The fact that their only appetizers seem to be kids' food and cheese balls is not nice.
