We booked an ocean view room. Checked in on the 2nd floor with nothing but trees in our way. Upgraded to the 3rd floor which barely had a view turns out it was almost $45 more. The bed was hard, there were no wash cloths or hand towels. No writing material or pen. They lock the doors at midnight to 6:00 am. Your key will not open it. You must call a manager. The restaurant and lounge are no longer open. We won't stay there again. Especially for $225.
We visited recently. No restaurant since the space is under renovation. No sign of closure was indicated whatsoever. You find out in the morning when you're hoping to eat breakfast at the hotel. The lobby is airy and spacious. Outdated burgundy furniture blends in well with the overall decor of the lobby. The aquarium tank is present which is appealing but not worth mentioning. The exterior of the hotel looks clean and updated. The interior hallway is long and has a musty odor during the day. Night AC keeps moisture away. Inside the guestroom is very outdated and definitely needs renovation. Rooms with jacuzzi are in the bathroom tub not in the living space facing the ocean view. The balcony furniture was outdated as well. Looking at the Pacific Ocean was great. We slept comfortably on the bed. Linens had any knots inside. Need replacement. Front desk guest service was great. Overall, the hotel needs to update.
Been coming here for 20 years, this time I'm disappointed. Hall stunk like old socks, place is run down, like another said, owners need to put some $ into it, fix what's broke at least, a complete overhaul would be better. Won't stay here again until they do.Rooms: As I walked in the sun was hitting the window and balcony door,is so dirty couldn't see out of themFood & drinks: Restaurant is shut down
Balcony had a lot of standing water and bathroom smelled like someone smoked in it. But aside from that the room was very clean and very nice. We absolutely enjoyed our stay.
Date stayed- Spt. 2, 2023I have endured a health crisis after staying the night at this hotel. I have talked with several workers at the hotel and have not got resolution. The cleaner spray provided by the front desk (so that I could clean our room that was not cleaned previous to our arrival) has caused a respiratory reaction and has affected my health. Not to mention I spent over an hour having to clean our room upon arrival. By cleaning I mean true housekeeper cleaning, very physically demanding.**This was the original issue. Our room was not cleaned for us before our stay**I am so upset about everything with our stay. I would like a full refund and to be done with this.We did not deserve to have our weekend go this way. We chose to stay with Shilo and do regret it. Today I am still dealing with respiratory distress. When we checked in we settled down and noticed our room was literally filthy.Finger nail clippings, hairs, food crumbs in dresser drawersFinger and hand smudges and smears on big glass photo, also on all mirrors and surfaces (you could see the filth when the light shined on it, but not when we first walked in and lights were off.)Food remnants and crumbs on the floor and around edge of bed (whole goldfish crackers)Sinks not cleanedShower completely filthy. Many many hairs, slimy scum on shower wall and floor, smears on curtain rail.Toilet- yuck!I had to clean biohazard! Feces and urine on the seat, underside of toilet on front, and also on floor around toilet edge.Bathroom floor filthy. Hairs, scum, debrisAll mirrors not wipedAppliances not cleaned or wiped downDaniel at the front desk was very unprofessional. I do reccomend further training for this individual.I am unsure of his position at the hotel, he informed me he is the one who runs the hotel and is the highest position person I am able to talk with about my issue. I do not believe this is true and hope to recieve resolution. He also said that there is absolutely no chemicals they use that have any "harsh" ingredients which is untrue. He said the strongest chemical they use is hydrogen peroxide, which is also completely untrue. What I was handed to clean our room was a white spray bottle from under the front desk counter. It was a disinfectant sanitizer- no where on the bottle was it labeled as hydrogen peroxide and it definitely did not smell like hydrogen peroxide. It was not hydrogen peroxide as Daniel argued on the phone with me as he accosted me.Regardless of his disagreement with the disinfectant spray causing me respiratory distress, the way our room was when we arrived and me having to clean and disinfect for over an hour is wildly inappropriate! That is a situation that should never happen to a guest of your hotels, and if it unfortunately does then it should be rectified.
The restaurant and Lounge were closed. The elevator was scarry to use, dirty and slow. Dislike a 4pm check-in and then an 11am checkout times. We did have our ocean view. Our room smelled like it had been smoked in. We reserved a room non-smoking. Had a neighbor with a dog that loved to bark, and we were on the 3rd floor. The shower/tub was dirty to the look of the eyes. The tile grout, which looked dirty or moldy. Towels were limited, 1 hand towel 2 washwrags and 2 bath towels. The couch bed looked so uncomfortable. We didn't even try and sit on it as the inner cushions sunk in, looked dirty outdated, too. Wallpaper is peeling off in areas of the room. People above us had a child or dog and would hear the running back and forth. The freezer was over due to be defrosted. We didn't need to use it, thankfully. Went to make a cup of coffee, and there was no regular, decaf coffee or tea, nor anything to stir if there was. When we checked out, let them know there was no coffee or in that category. The lady asked if there was decaf, told her no. Her response was well we have fresh coffee over there." I said that defeats the point, nor did I need any now that we were leaving. Also, let her know we had a dog next door that liked to bark. Was asked what room we were in, told her. All she said was she'd make a note of it. We love animals and have no issues with them. We had the understanding animals were to be on 1st floor. We were not told sorry for any inconvenience .
We booked an ADA room. It had a suite included but my wheelchair didn’t fit through the space for me to get to that part of the room. The toilet clogged every time we used it. The toilet was very low to the floor, which made it difficult to get on and off of. We had to ask for a shower chair to be brought in for a safe shower. We also had to ask every day for new towels and garbage to be taken out. Housekeeping was non-existent during our stay. Our room was previously used by people who had cats or dogs and you could smell that. The restaurant that was shown to be available and offering room service was closed. There was one very bright spot for our stay at Shilo Inn, JERROD, a hotel employee. He helped us at every turn. He deserves recognition for customer satisfaction & service!
I was so excited to stay here. I brought my daughter and her boys. BUT, I was so disappointed !! First they were a hr and half late letting us into our room. They need to do some repairs this winter. I think the thing that made me mad was we had 2 queen beds and we got 2 towels, for 4 of us! We went down to get more even thou they were folding the towels he wouldn’t give us any! What?? Then said we will bring them up, I said well do you want to know my room number? Oh yea… well we never got them! So my advice is bring your own towels. Oh and the restaurant is closed down. Really disappointed won’t stay here again.
Property appears to be about at the end of its life it's just waiting to die. Beds are hard as rocks. Furniture is mismatched shabby and stained. There is no restaurant or bar which is contrary to their photos on their website which is to say the very least misleading. The front desk person who checked us in was cold and made no eye contact. Elevator is filthy. The hotel is further from the beach than it appears. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.Rooms: Shabby and rundown beds are hard as rocksFood & drinks: There are none
Always enjoy the stay even though it’s a bit dated. Really glad to see the pool heated again. My family and I will be back soon.

This DFAC is the best deal going. For less than $7.00 you get everything. Salad bar, main line, grill, drinks, dessert. Not beating this.
I think it was unessary to wait to check in after 4 since my family had to go on a 8 hour drive just to get here. Plus we had a baby. Then we found out the room was $400 when the price they told us over the phone was $345. Lastly we were dissatisfied when we found out the restrant was closed for construction and my mom complained that the toilet seat felt to loose. 411 was the room we in. Great view of the beach thuo
No restaurant on site. Tho all billboards and sign outside say differently. No continental breakfast. Best location in proximity to beach. Easy walk to water. Close to shops. Hottub was not working while we were there. Rooms were decent.Walkability: Close to ocean
The bed was like sleeping on concrete. My back, neck and hips are still killing me. The floor was filthy. Huge crumbs everywhere. Deck was full of bird poop. When checking out the counter lady I told her about the beds. She said, "Oh, they have been talking about that for a long time.
This facility is overdue for a complete make-over, but is still serviceable. It is a shame that their restaurant and lounge were not in operation at the time of our visit. Our room was clean, and the bed surprisingly comfortable. We would have preferred a few more towels and washcloths, but that is a somewhat minor point. It's a relatively short walk to the beach from the motel, and how many motels have a complimentary fish cleaning station anymore?
