Ordered coffee and the lady gave me someone eles off of another table. When i asked could i get a different cup she freaked out so i said never mind on the coffee. Then she dripped some coffee on my daughter's plate on her toast and my daughter asked if she could please not spill on her plate. The lady leaves and my daughter' starts cleaning it up with a napkin and she comes back and says where's it at my mess?my daughter says ive already got it. And the manager lady snatches her napkin out of my daughter's hands. My disabled wife freaked out becauseof this. So i left without touching a bite. The good looked really good. Just not good enough to every go there again

Great spot on the water. Our room was on the first floor because we are travelling with our dog Joey and dogs are only allowed on the ground floor. Room was spacious and well kept. High ceilings made it feel even roomier. Balcony right on the water. Fridge and microwave. We slept really well too!

Excellent reprieve from the heat while slaying salmon. Beautiful room that was so nice and cool and dark with peaceful music playing on the tv was the perfect welcome after a long day of 109 degree heat on the water. And then we opened the curtains to awesome waterfront view, with docks to leave boat in the water right at the hotel. Howard’s location and plentiful amenities are perfect for the summer salmon derby.

Far exceeded my expectations. The restaurant was clean, the staff was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious with generous portions and reasonable prices. Beautiful view too! The only thing I was put off by a bit was the way they process your bill. I like to see exactly what I'm paying and have time to decide how much I want to leave for a tip. The girl (not the waitress) came up to the table with a little machine, confirmed what I ordered and told me the amount due, then ran my card. It was very odd. I went there for good food and that's what I got so I'll definitely be back.

I am truly impressed with how well the new management kept the food DELICIOUS. My favorite place to eat everything here. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love the food. It tastes AMAZING and it's not too expensive either. I go about 2 times a month because why not? Love this place.WARNING: You better come starving because it is a lot of food for one plate.

I grew up in Pateros and when this place was Howard's on the water it was delicious. I went there recently with the new management and it was HORRIBLE. I had been warned by several people of how bad it's gotten, but wated to give it a try.. The service was extremely unprofessional and would just walk away from us before we could even finish a sentence. And the food was the worst I ever had there. My sandwich was supposed to have Swiss cheese and instead it had craft fake cheese. It was also dry served on a giant loaf of bread. My boyfriends sandwich was so dry you could barely swallow it, and his fries were practically raw in the middle. I'm a chef myself and would never serve this food. And we still had to pay for the food even though we didn't eat it. No "sorrys" just pretty much dirty looks. This place has took a huge dive in service and quality.

This was our third stay at Howard's. The first two were very nice, in a spacious, clean, and comfortable room (with a gas fireplace) and welcomed our pet. Our most recent visit, just last Sunday-Tuesday, was less so. I don't know if the ownership has changed, or it's that the pandemic has decimated the workforce in tiny Pateros, but the staff was way different than we were used to. The woman who checked me in apologized for being new, but apparently was not given much training before she was thrown to the wolves. After 20 minutes at the desk, me trying my best to be patient, and her trying frantically to work the computer, I was finally given our room keys and told I could "do the paperwork" later. It was not a difficult check-in to process. I had a reservation with all information already given. I can only imagine how the poor woman would have handled a walk-in. The next day, my husband had a few words with the manager over said paperwork, which stated that since we had a pet, we "were responsible for damages allegedly caused by our pet". My husband crossed out the word "allegedly", as "damage" pretty much would be a subjective decision on the management's part. This did not go over well. It kind of set a tone. There was one ADA parking spot by the front door, which we used, as my husband has mobility issues, and we have an ADA placard. Some employee or guest, driving a huge club-cab dually pickup, insisted on parking in the cross-hatch of the ADA space several times, despite there already being a car in the legal space (ours). This was also rather irritating. They did serve a continental breakfast, which many properties have reduced or suspended. The room was, as stated before, roomy, with small patio overlooking the Columbia River, a gas fireplace, and a comfy easy chair and ottoman. They have cut back to no housekeeping on multi-day stays. The wastebaskets got rather full. For the Standard Room Rate of $280 plus $30 tax per night, I think housekeeping could have at least dropped by to empty the trash. On this visit, the towels were thin and dingy, and the sheets were rough like muslin. Not at all as they had been before. I realize that every business has been adversely affected by the pandemic, and we tried on this 2-week trip to be understanding and not demanding. Howard's was our last stop, and maybe we were just tired after 2 weeks on the road, but it just wasn't the same place it was on the two previous visits.

An aging hotel past its prime with an indifferent staff. WiFi inoperable, towels dingy, the first time I have ever had a limit on the ice I could take from the machine. I would have rather been in a tent at Alta lake. All in all, I was very disappointed, especially since it seemed that the (night) staff was more interested in the tv in the lobby, or talking to their boyfriends than actually being of service to the guests. Never going back.

We stayed for two nights 8/13 and 8/14. Got up to my girlfriend screaming that there was a bat in the toilet. Sure enough....called front desk and advised them of the situation. A guy showed up in gloves and garbage bag. He thought it was funny......I and my girlfriend found no humor in the situation. We asked to be compensated in some way for the inconvenience. The front desk lady laughed and said she heard about it. Once again, not funny to us. Might want to check things in your rooms when you arrive.... Bill
