I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: most Mexican restaurants are serving the same rice and beans off the same delivery truck, and Nayarit proudly rides shotgun.
We went for the first time last night with high expectations, thanks to the glowing reviews. Either Pullman diners are very easy to impress, or the local rating scale now reads: not terrible equals five stars. To me, five stars should mean memorable. What we got was “yes, this is food.” That’s a three.
I ordered a standard enchilada. The sauce was overly tomato-forward, thin on spice, and never quite got to “that’s good.” It was fine. Entirely forgettable.
My wife ordered a chili relleno, which traditionally means a poblano stuffed with cheese. What arrived appeared to be bread stuffed with cheese. Stale bread. A bold and confusing choice. Big disappointment. Ironically, the sauce on her plate was noticeably better than mine, which only added to the mystery.
On the bright side, the guacamole was genuinely good. Someone in the kitchen knows what they’re doing with avocados.
The chips and salsa were another adventure. The salsa was so thin it bordered on tomato-flavored water. If you strained it, you’d be left with maybe a teaspoon of solids and a lot of questions. To be fair, it did taste good. It just didn’t resemble salsa in any meaningful, structural way.
Bottom line: Nayarit isn’t bad. But “not bad” is not the same as great, and it’s certainly not five-star worthy. Three stars feels honest.

I love this place, the food is fantastic. The folks who work there are always prompt and courteous. I can't wait to see that atmosphere grow as they spend more time in the space. Their shredded beef is incredible!

Lacking flavor and spice, the stereotypical gringo version of Mexican food.

Great food, reasonable prices, nice server. Smaller establishment so may get crowded at times. I visit on a weekday lunch hour and had no wait.

Best Mexican in Pullman, WA hands down. We drive from Moscow, ID to eat here. The service is amazing. Great chips and salsa. The Margaritas are tasty! Highly recommend. There is outdoor seating available also.

This was our first time here. The place is clean, including the bathrooms. Today is Saturday. We came in around noon. The place filled up pretty quick. The waitresses were professional and quick. The food was ok. The chips n salsa were good. The lunch menu looked reasonably priced. I was surprised at how small it appeared, but it filled us all up. The chipotle is good.
