Disappointed at this location, not very many customers but most of the tables have not been cleared, floor had lots of food on it, service was extremely slow, host went to seat us but table was soiled he wiped it down and expected us to sit on wet seats, he said he would return never came back to dry the seats, we had to dry it with our own napkins
Won’t come back to this location

Ordered through doordash, omelet with country potatoes. Potatoes had tons of onions and peppers and about 10 potato bites. Ordered again just potatoes and no better. Do you need potatoes? I can dash some to you.

This was my first time going with my YMCA aqua aerobics lunch group to Black Bear on 10/01/24 and we had a blast. Hope to go back soon. The coffee is amazing.I had the iced cold brew and they even gave me a free refill to go 🥰 The portions are huge and can easily make two meals, and the prices are not bad.🥰 Even had to get a mug as a memento. 🥰

Service was good no problem there. But the food was served cold and had to be reheated which it shouldn't have to be. If the cooks know how to make hot food

Ate at Puyallup location, had the Tri-Tip French Dip. It was ok.. nothing special. I wanted chili but decided against it when I was told onions were extra. It was the principle not the price. In short we weren’t to impressed and wont be going back

Who doesn't love black bear? Good food, good prices for the quantity of food you get.

We love Black Bear diner but the experience at the Puyallup restaurant might change our mind. The server was very good. But it took forever to get our food. My chicken fried steak and eggs were good but my wife’s avocado toast was horrible, didn’t look like avocado toast it was served with giant slices of tomato that you don’t see on avocado toast normally. My wife asked for an egg white, when it came it was scrambled and cold and not what you expected from ordering an egg white. Also the bread was hard as a rock. When we talked to the manager he said that is the way they make it there which in our opinion not good.

the management of the Black Bear diner Puyallup:
We went to the black Bear diner in Puyallup on Friday, September 5, 2025, spent close to $100 on food that was mediocre at best. Normally we would not stop at a restaurant having a health rating that was just OKay, but we hadn’t been to this restaurant since moving into the area, saw the Friday fish fry special and decided to give it a shot.

I ordered the tri-tip, my husband ordered the fish fry special, my mother-in-law ordered a burger and then being from the south, we ordered a side of grits, grits you should take them off your menu until you go to Georgia or Florida and learn what grits are supposed to look like or taste like because these were not even close to a representation of what grits should be or look like when they come to the table.
With the tri-tip I received a corn on the cob with a portion cut out (evident it would have had some type of a bug or rotten spot that was cut out cooked and presented to me), I did send that back and received a fresh corn on the cob. That said, I was told it had Parmesan cheese, a strip of Parmesan cheese that adds zero value to corn on the cob.
We also purchased two Bear claws, which supposedly were homemade, likely in some factory somewhere because they were absolutely no better than any box pastry I’ve ever had
Your food lacks flavor and freshness. It is no better than Denny’s or fast food that I could get significantly less.
Food is likely mass produced and not at all fresh, which is evident by its lack of flavor.
I know anyone who asks me I will certainly tell them your food lacks taste, is NOT fresh or homemade and is not at all worth what is being charged.
If someone from this organization would like to get in touch with me, again I sent an email on 9/6 I did not receive any feedback or reply from your organization

Best home cooked style meals and fair prices. Have enjoyed several in the chain, this one is closest to home. Always a great meal here.

Morning breakfast:
Our welcome to the Diner was very welcoming. The waitress was very polite and brought our beverages in a timely manner. Asked if we were ready to order, we acknowledge that we were, as we took our order, in less than ten minutes we received our breakfast. I ordered French toast 3 slices with 2 eggs over medium and 2 bacon. My wife had the 3 slices French toast, bowl grits and 1 ham. I have to admit, I've been to Ihop, and Denny's, but never had this quick of a service. Minus the momosa my wife decided to get, the price for the meal would have been under $50. Also, no waiting. Thank you black bear diner for this experience.
