Stopped by for a bite to eat. The service was quick and friendly. The food was excellent. I had the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It was crispy and delicious!
I didn't take a room, so can not rate the Inn. The room photos on their site look awesome. Each room or suite appears to have its own theme.
from the moment we walked in it was so amazing. food was unbelievably exceptional, wine hit the spot, and that flatbread is so damn good. couldn't have been better and the customer service was above and beyond!
Brit wardenaar goes here and he lives In this city so it’s definitely really good, also did you know Brit dunked on someone to win the game in our championship in the best tournament in the world and we were playing 17u
Brit wardenaar goes here so it must be top tier
My husband and I just stopped by for our second visit. We live three hours away and happened upon Gard on a trip to Lewiston a few years ago. Today, we drove out of our way to visit heading home. We are absolute foodies - our personal hobbies burn the calories to allow us to enjoy our “together hobby”: eating good food. My husband bluntly stated once we got back in the car, “this may be the best restaurant in WA state.” If you happen by, don’t hesitate to stop! Many of the ingredients are locally sourced, the service is incredible, the wines are amazing, and the food is to die for.
We went to pick up some boxes of peaches at Verheys just outside of town and stopped at Gard Public House and had a wonderful lunch! Unexpected surprise to find such a great place out in Royal City!
We at at the restaurant and it was fabulous. They accommodated my gluten allergy. The wine was very good but the star of the show was the fresh cut fries.....and ofcourse, the service!
Food was so amazing!!!
Great stop on our way to Pullman! We were skeptical when we pulled in, but very impressed walking out. The food was delicious. We got the wine flight to share, and the wines paired well with my salad (Thai Salad). My Thai salad was good and very flavorful, but I probably should have ordered a protein with it (I’m guessing chicken would have been great). My husband got a Reuben that he said was decent. My daughters really liked their kids meals (grilled cheese and Mac and cheese). The French fries were flavorful and delicious, and my husband added on garlic fries which were a great choice.
The food was excellent. We got a pizza and the steak with chimichurri sauce. The service was a little slow but everyone was friendly. We will definitely come again.

Great location! Delicious food and stylish interior! Worth a visit!!
It was my first time in Royal city. Stopped at the Public House for food.
This is not just delicious food- it’s art. Certainly worth the stop- even worth the visit to Royal City, Washington.
Wife and I stopped here for lunch on a cross-state trip to Othello. Located in Royal City, it is just off Route 26 and about 20 miles west of Othello, WA. Pleasantly surprised with our meals as the food was delicious and flavor packed! There really is no substitute for fresh ingredients as some of the profiles the dishes presented were unexpected and eye-opening! Appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches, pizzas and desserts… the menu is filled with tantalizing options, I definitely want to come back and try some more!
My husband and Daughter surprised me by taking me to Gard house for the first time on Mothers day! I couldn't believe I would finally get to experience everything I have heard about and read online! However, our experience was subpar.
We were not greeted when we entered the restaurant. We weren't sure what to do and after several minutes of awkwardly waiting, I went to the bar to ask if we were supposed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. The hostess was nice and said they were really busy and that she would seat us soon. They must have had a lot of call-in orders and been short staffed, because the restaurant was about half full.
A few minutes later the hostess asked 'how many' and grabbed the menus and walked away. We weren't sure if we were supposed to follow her. So, we waited some more until she came back and told us we were supposed to follow. I apologized for not doing so and we were seated.
We were having a hard time deciding what to order, so we asked the server what the most popular dishes are and he let out an irritated sigh and said, 'I don't know because usually I only work nights, I'm just helping out today because we are busy' I replied, 'ok, no problem. Then we are going to need a few more minutes to decide.' I was met with an eye roll as the server turned on his heel and walked away.
One of the items we ordered was the hamburger for my 8 year old daughter. I asked if we could get ketchup on the burger. The server told me, 'we can't put ketchup ON the burger, but I guess we can put it on the side.' Okay, kind of weird, but not a big deal.
The next time we saw our server, was when he was yelling 'goodbye' to the other employees as he walked past our table to go home. We weren't acknowledged or told that someone else would be taking over as our server.
We waited a reasonable amount of time for our food and it came out hot, and looking and smelling and tasting delicious!
However, we waited a long time to receive napkins, silverware and condiments. My husband was about to find someone when another server came over to our table to ask if we needed anything else. We asked for more ketchup and the new server brought a whole bottle of ketchup. We thought that was funny because the previous server made it seem like asking for ketchup was offensive. Maybe it is when you have a 3 star Michelin chef cooking for you, but I also have an 8 year old.
The food was delicious! The star of the meal was the chocolate lava cake! It was delectable! I will be dreaming about that cake for the rest of my life!
After we ate, we waited and waited for our bill. Again, we weren't sure what the protocol was, so my husband got up and went to the front to pay. The server apologized and took our money.
We would like to give Gard house another try. In the future, we will make a reservation and go on a regular day (not a holiday) in hopes of a much better experience.
