Old dried out cheesecake (amaretto). Ick. Wish I didn’t get it to go, or I’d request a refund. Bummer.

First the good - the coffee at the self serve bar was good. Now the not so good. Staff was not very engaging and seemed put out to answer questions or take your order. The place was dirty. it needs to be swept and dusted. We ordered the Ceasar Club. It was very bland, but had a nice proportion of chicken, but very little flavor. the side (basically a ramekin) of coleslaw was terrible - no flavor at all. Had to bus your own tables, which I think is fine. I would not come back for anything except the coffee.

Their Gruyère cheese bread loaf and cinnamon raisin bread loaves are excellent.

The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars are the dirty plates and the response I got to it when asked why I need paper plates instead of the regular ones; the barista was insisting is the texture of the plate. I asked her to go to a brighter spot and take a better look. I left and used tissues instead of plates. Will I go back? Definitely! But will keep using plastic and paper :)
Food is delicious!

The coffee and pastry were great, and the cafe looks cool. The whole place was very dirty, which was odd. There was garbage everywhere -- the trash bin was overflowing. The tables were dirty and there was dust on the counters. The people working there seemed overwhelmed, so maybe they're just understaffed.

I purchased a loaf and a baguette at the Des Moines Farmer's Market yesterday and both were stale! The bread must have been a few days old! Seeing the long line, I was excited to try it, but it turned out to be a waste of money!

The coffee tasted so bad. Had to throw it away after trying it. Was too bad. ?

Always amazing food and great customer service!

Parking: Parking can be dodicimila, especially of there's anything going on in town. Check side streets going out from the cafe.

Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome and sometimes there's games to borrow or coloring supplies

Super nice staff and truely amazing baked treats! I love this place and treat myself a couple times a month but get there early for the best selection. I like their morning glory muffins, cherry and blueberry/lemon croissants and all their cheesecakes! Top teir!

We ordered a tuna Sandwich and a Turkey sandwich to go. To my surprise the sandwiches were very flavorless. Did they forget to insert the mayo, or any other sauce?
$14 ea and no flavor. Bummer!

Bought a mixture of cookies, pastries, bars. It looked good but it was terrible, the pastries were heavy and greasy , the cookies were very dry, and the dessert bars were of same quality, all was a waste of money and quite spendy. Service was obnoxious with 45 min. to closing they shut down the drinks and made it obvious they were ready to leave but they did manage to point out the tipping question ( rude ) when paying, and the flies were additional decor they were everywhere - that should've been the biggest red flag of quality , the card reader could've used a good cleaning as well as the counter - 2nd red flag of quality. First and last time there do not understand the good reviews, there are so many bakeries within driving distance that are much much MUCH better, cleaner and tastier. Cute town though.
