My husband and I had previously dined at 1898 last summer and enjoyed the experience, so we decided to try our luck as a non-reservation holder for Valentine's Day. Yet another great experience! Though the restaurant was busy, we had a very short wait time to be seated. Our waiter Nick was very pleasant, well engaged, and was kind enough to snap a photo of us for our memories. We dined partially off the special menu for the evening and partially off the regular menu. We shared the specialty charcuterie board, and I enjoyed a tasty Valentine's Day cupid themed cocktail, while my husband preferred a mule and a beer from the tap. Our entrees were from the regular menu, the pan seared cod, and the cajun chicken pasta. Both were delicious entrees! It is very flavorful, fresh, and quite tasty. Though we could obviously see that the restaurant was full, our service was quick, the wait staff were friendly, and we left feeling satisfied with our evening. We will definitely return again!

About 2 months ago my girlfriend, her family, and I went to 1898 Public House in celebration of her sisters boyfriends birthday.
Firstly I'd like to say that our server was fantastic. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and drink offerings. She regularly came by to check on us and was attentive, keeping our drinks topped off and ensuring that things were going smoothly.
The restaurant had a great atmosphere, and the view overlooking the golf course and wildlife would have made for a great dining experience.
We started by ordering a few appetizers (the calamari fries were awesome), and placed our dinner orders. I ordered a new york strip medium rare with the addition of grilled prawns. Birthday boy ordered the NY strip as well (medium). When our food came out, our waitress asked us to cut in to our steaks to ensure they were cooked to our liking.
I cut in to my steak and could see it was obviously cooked medium well. Birthday Boy's steak was about the same. Seeing our steaks the waitress asked me if I would like to send it back. Initially I said no its fine I'll just eat it (I was starving having waited for this meal all day), but after birthday boy decided to send his back, I jumped on and asked for mine to be remade as well. She assured us it would be "very quick".
About 25 minutes later our second steaks come out. Most everyone else in our party is either done eating at this point or close to it (For the record everyone else said their food was excellent, with the exception of a Moroccan steak sandwhich that the steak was.... surprise, overcooked). The waitress asks us to again, cut into our steaks to see if they are cooked as ordered. This second time, my steak is even more overcooked than the first one, and Birthday Boy's is about the same as his previous. Seeing my frustration and the obviously overcooked steak, the waitress says she's going to grab the manager.
The manager (Ernesto) comes over and offers to once again send my steak back to be redone. As everyone but myself and the Birthday Boy are now done eating, I tell him I'm really not interested in waiting another 25 minutes for my meal, and thus having everyone waiting on me while I eat by myself. Ernesto then asks me what I'd like to do. I tell him if he's willing to comp my meal I will eat the steak, but that I'm not willing to pay $55 for a medium-well to well done steak. Ernesto then rudely tells me (I think he was upset that I asked for it to be comp'ed) he will not comp the meal and that he'd be willing be taking the steak back, or he can have the kitchen cook me another one.
At this point I'm beyond frustrated and told him I'd rather spend my money at Taco Bell, and he took my plate and left.
Angry and annoyed I went to use the restroom, and in my absence Ernesto came by the table again to apologize and informed the rest of our party that under further scrutiny the steak WAS in fact overcooked, but offered no recourse.
Upon my return from the restroom we quickly paid for what food we DID eat, and left.
All in all a very disappointing experience. I liked the restaurant and scenery, the drink selection was good, and the wait staff was pleasant to work with. Had the steaks come out as ordered, or the manager handled the situation differently, I would have been happy to return to this establishment, though after this experience I'm doubtful I'll ever really want to go back.

This is my favorite quiet lunch spot, with a stunning golf course view. The food is above par lol, including the outstanding salads and special cocktails. Last week, we had the added delight of observing two bald eagles soaring up high while we dined.

We live nearby and it was our first time going here. The restaurant looks great. It was super busy on Saturday, so I’m happy we booked a table. We came here to celebrate the wedding anniversary and we got a super cute card and a desert. Their steak was great! We will definitely come again!

Had a planned a special date with my significant other made reservations weeks in advance asking for a window table. We arrived on time for the reservation and waited for 20 min only to be seated at literally the worst table in the restaurant. It was basically a last min thrown together table in the middle of a high traffic Isleway. The worst part is we’ve been there so many times before and it was our favorite spot. Super disappointing we ended up just leaving

Thought it would be ritzy, but the prices were decent for the quality of the food service and atmosphere. I'm trying to do a little more fancy, and this is definitely it. I would definitely recommend for a date night or just going out with family and friends. Absolutely loved it!
