My wife and I had the Marathon for dinner. It was a superlative experience. Our servers were attentive and at the same time unobtrusive. They seemed genuinely interested in my fascination with the complexity of each dish. The sommelier paired the dessert with an obscure French fortified wine that created an experience my palate never would have had without him. Fine dining in an unpretentious atmosphere--can't wait to return!

A few weeks ago, I went here to celebrate a family celebration with my parents, brother and sister-in-law for an absolutely perfect Italian dinner.

The entire staff was amazing and provided the absolute best customer service experience the moment we walked into this great downtown Spokane restaurant.

The sommelier provided the perfect wine pairings for the appetizers and main course.

The bartender made a great old fashioned. :)

I also saw they had a pretty extensive wine list, and whiskey and scotch available.

The waiter knew the entire dinner menu front-to-back, and he was able to provide the best suggestions for appetizers, mains, and dessert.

We shared the appetizers family style, and shared some of the main courses too - but I didn’t share the cannoli I had for my dessert. :)

Make sure to order any of their bread (any of them), and any of their fresh pastas - both of which they make in-house every day.

This is the perfect Italian restaurant to celebrate a special occasion - you can’t go wrong!

Had The Marathon. Every plate was visually pleasing, every bite thoughtfully crafted. It was a really great meal.

I was told it’s a lot of food, so we didn’t eat all day. I left absolutely STUFFED. The variety was impressive. I think we had around 12 plates of different food, ranging in size from small bites to full plates.

I suggest the Bad Witch as a drink! I had 2 and my boyfriend ended up ordering 2 after having a sip of mine.

Every server that helped us was funny, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable on the food we were eating. For a special celebration, this was exactly what we were looking for. Worth every penny.

My only complaint, and it’s small, is they brought the first 4 courses out very quickly one after another. The remaining courses were spread out more. Our total meal time was about 2 hrs.

We have eaten here many times and never had a bad experience. Sunday Dinners are good and the 7 Course meal on the weeknights is a must.

Made a reservation for two at Gander and Ryegrass, and I'm so glad I did! The atmosphere of the restaurant is moody and romantic - perfect for a date night. The host was friendly, and our server hit the right balance of checking in enough but too much. Had great conversation as well. The sommelier was a nice touch, and we got to learn more about our selected wines.

The menu is simple in a good way with all appetizers and entrees fitting on one side. There's nothing worse than a convoluted, long menu!

The food was excellent. We had the oysters, which were semi-sweet and very tasty. The grilled bread with butter and tapenade was excellent! The bread was soft yet chewy. Both of us had the black cod, and it did not disappoint. The black cod provides a variety of flavors and textures, which makes for a very entertaining yet elegant dish. The cannoli was quite nice, and the espresso ice cream was a great addition to the dessert. They also offer limoncello if that's your thing!

The price felt very competitive and reasonable for the quality of service and food offered by this establishment. I would 100% return to Gander and Ryegrass.

Easily one of the best (if not the best) dining experiences I've had. My wife and I ordered the marathon, which was a eclectic collection of unique and interesting flavors start to finish. A carrot salad with honeycomb and a blue-cheese/cheddar hybrid stuck out to me, along with a creamy cod fritter as one of the opening bites. Our server, who happened to also be the sommelier, was extremely knowledgeable on the menu from top to bottom. Cocktails were delicious, wine selection was varietous, and all staff was courteous and attentive. I ended the meal with an amaro flight, which the bartender helped to select. Honestly could not have asked for a better outing. Would give 6 stars if I could!

I got married in Spokane back in July and we picked Gander & Ryegrass for our reception lunch. I have never had such exquisite food and such a tailored dining experience. Chef Peter and his staff made our visit beyond memorable. I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Gander & Ryegrass has earned its reputation for great chefs and thoughtful courses- which made this all the more disappointing. After three excellent plates, we waited 45 minutes for a “ribeye” that was, quite clearly, not a ribeye. Two lean, sirloin-like steaks, sliced and served as if no one would notice.

When asked how it was, we said: “It’s prepared well, but it’s not a ribeye.” For nearly $200 (market price), that kind of quiet substitution without transparency feels careless at best, dishonest at worst.

At a restaurant of this caliber, guests shouldn’t have to choose between good food and honest service.

Dining in from Texas.

First thing’s first, Kalyla was an amazing server! Make sure to give her props on her presentation and amazing menu suggestions!

Second, the bread and the hanger steak are a MUST try.

Third, their cocktails are amazing. Espresso martinis are on point!

Grab a reservation and ask for Kalyla!

Came here from out of town on a Sunday night. Very interesting and smooth ryes and delightful IPAs. Cordial and courteous staff - old fashioned aesthetic - the paragon of class. Recommended!

This place is no joke! Visiting Spokane from LA area, was looking for a take out to bring back to our hotel. Got 2 pastas, salad and the bread. All amazing! All fresh! Can’t imagine how it would have been if we ate at the place. Amazing food!

Best dining experience in Spokane. We wanted an intimate, and refined experience. This restaurant is obviously a passion project because every detail was thoughtful and beautiful. I would go here again and again! We were visiting from out of town and it's better than most fine dining restaurants in Seattle. I don't write reviews very often. This one I felt compelled to share because people need to go! WORTH EVERY PENNY.
