Favorite spot on south hill Spokane. Highly recommend the location for delicious unique Chinese food, eclectic kind staff, and changing local art inside. Support the local joint!

Tried this restaurant for the first time, I am very pleased with our male server; he knew his stuff on what’s on the menu, his customers service was an 10/10. The food was delicious, wait time 10-15min. As for Spice levels, they were well leveled for each dish. Will definitely come back again and try more dishes. Suggestion for the female worker at the front desk: if your going to prep food at the front counter please don’t be eating the ingredients in-front of your customers AKA: the beans).

My husband and I were first time trying this restaurant, we seated at 12:20 pm on Thursday, the restaurant was not busy, but we waited 40 mins to get our dishes served. We ordered Ants claiming a tree and Hunan beef, Ants claiming a tree is a famous dish, I was shocked it was cooked like a soup, the taste was awful too, we couldn’t believe it was the same dish we ate in other restaurants. The Hunan beef was very salty, most were overcooked vegetables with very less beef, I even thought the chief did it on purpose because we complained waiting too long. We were starving but only ate the white rice and a couple of pieces beef.I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I regrettably had forgotten about Gordy's! Went on our lunch break. The food was slow coming out, but is well worth the wait! We ordered a starter but had a hard time choosing our 2nd entree and asked the server to surprise us. Portions are substantial and the flavors are too notch. I won't wait on this again!

This review is based off the experience we had today. This was our first time here and we heard they were looking for support so we decided to place a togo order on our way home. We picked up our Mongolian Beef order at 6pm and noticed there was just 1 box in the bag with nothing else and this cost $23? When we got home I made some rice as I thought this came with the meal as this has been our experience with every other restaurants. When I opened the box I was shocked to see it was only half full and all the vegetables were soggy. We still dished out the meal as we still wanted to try it. It was VERY smoky and there was bitter ginger flavor that permeated the dish. As we continued to eat, the bitter flavor increased so much we ended up having to dispose of the rest of the dish. This was unfortunate, but then again it was just our experience today.

We just had lunch here and boy, what tasty food! We had the Garlic black bean beef, hunan beef, veggie fried rice and Dan Dan noodles. The last dish I didn't care for. Don't be afraid to order a spicy dish. The hunan beef was just right. I get heartburn and this dish didn't bother me a bit. It was delicious along with the garlic beef. Some of the best Chinese food I have had in Washington. Usually it is too sweet. But here, it was very savory. We live two hours away but thinking of reasons to come up here just to have lunch!

Excellent food, great price. It's Takeout only these days but definitely worth it to pick up.

First timer, dine in. Decent food, but expensive for what it is. I immediately noticed lots of passive aggressive rules displayed as signage throughout the interior about how to be their ideal kind of customer. Including: not being allowed to wait at your table until all the members of the party have arrived (yes, even when it's dead), refusal to split tabs for a party because "that's too much work", passing off the credit card transaction fees to the customers (just don't tell VISA you do this), a hefty service charge of 18% on parties of six or more (not a gratuity, it goes to the owner, not the server) on and on....it was just a very annoying and somewhat hostile experience that comes across as nickel and diming, when compared to other restaurants who don't play silly games and who engage with their customers and staff in a friendly manner. Just skip all the weird rules, and raise your prices until you make a margin, like everyone else in the industry. But the reasoning you will hear behind all this weirdness? "That's just our long standing policy"....oh....I suppose if you're a restauranteur who is going to pull the pick-your-ideal-customers ploy, you really have to have the goods to back up the attitude, but it just doesn't feel Gordy's is that kind of place in terms of setting nor at that kind of level when it comes to the service. So, will I be back? It is good food; but the general experience is lacking, and extremely off putting. It's not a place I think I would look forward to going to again; it just feels: unwelcoming. If it was only about the food, I can make better food at home, or simply find it elsewhere.

Fresh ingredients. Delicious flavors. Best hot and sour soup I've in years. We ate take out but found the staff very kind and attentive. They have a very casual dining atmosphere.

Gordy's has always been and will always be the BEST in this town for Chinese. You can fight me over it, but I doubt you'd want

Gordy's used to be our favorite Spokane secret, and now we're not even allowed to sit. We knew Gordy. We knew Gordy's wonderful wife and staff. We waited in long lines in the winter. I heard on Reddit that they're hurting for business, so we vowed to stop in. I stopped in at 6pm today 2/23/24 and the kitchen is backed up 2 hours, BUT THERE ISN'T ENOUGH BUSINESS TO HAVE WAITSTAFF??? What would Gordy do? Since no one is allowed to eat in house, it's pretty clean. LOL. Please let me know when you allow customers to sit in your extended dining room.

Saw the news article about lack of indoor seating interest, yet last time my family went, 3 of them arrived at 8 so we could meet my girlfriend who's a nurse, when she was off around 730. She got delayed which isn't unusual, and so 3 people got there first. Despite a relatively empty dining room, the waiter refused to seat the 3 of them until the remaining 2 arrived. The food is amazing, but I have never heard of a request like that from front of house staff before. If the restaurant was full I would understand, but was not.

Fresh, delicious food. Many dishes can be prepared gluten free and that option is right on the menu clearly indicated--rare for Chinese food! Right now they are doing take out and delivery only. Please order from them to support them if you can.
