The Backyard Public House

I have never been treated so rudely by a server or bartender before. It took her a half an hour to get my friends tab after waiting at the bar in front of her. Our drinks were empty for at least 45 minutes. Half of our group got the foos they ordered, the others didn’t, When we went to go pay, we waited at the bar for 15-20 minutes. Had to ask multiple times for a tab and finally I had to threaten to leave without paying before I got any attention. After I threatened to leave, she finally turned around and was incredibly rude. On top of that we got charged to 20% gratuity. I will never go back. Don’t waste your time or your money at the backyard.

We used to LOVE Backyard! We came in a few months ago and had a pretty bad experience so we stopped going since they were going through a menu change and so on. We figured we’d give them time to figure it out. Today, we thought would be a great time to try it again and hopefully have improved service. We decided to go out for my friend’s birthday. We came in around 4:30pm and only one other table was sat. There were 8 of us to start, later turning to 6. The service was slow at first but we were just ordering drinks so it was okay. After our first round though, the server didn’t come back until one of us had to go to the bar and tell them we wanted to order food and more drinks. It took another 15-20 minutes for anyone to come get our food orders. Two orders were delivered right away. 15 minutes later, two more orders were delivered to the table. I waited another 20 minutes while my husband and everyone else finished their meals, a server never returned the entire time everyone ate. Eventually, one person went to the bar to close out his tab and it took 30 minutes to do so. While he waited, I also eventually went to the bar to complain that I never received my food and our entire table wanted to order more food and drinks and had been waiting at least 20 minutes. One girl apologized and said after these cocktails were made, she’d be right over. The other two girls weren’t making drinks and were just doing dishes. After another 15 minutes, still no one came to get orders. We finally had enough!! I went back to the bar and told them never mind on my food. Then, we ALL had to get up and go to the bar to close out, because again, no one came to our table. Since we were initially a party over 6, they already included a tip which may be why they never gave us any service, they already knew they’d be getting a tip. I am beyond disappointed, I am mad, and I don’t think I will ever return to Backyard (one of my all-time favorite places). I cannot believe this service, especially when they knew it was someone’s birthday. I cannot believe they thought they deserved a tip at all! I ended up leaving and getting Jack in the Box instead! Total letdown! I don’t think Backyard will ever be like it used to. Don’t waste your money or your time!

The vibe the second you walk in the door is so uplifting and positive. Cori greeted me the second I walked in the door and sat me with water right away. She told me about their rewards program and all of their weekly events and specials! Tyler my server gave me insight into all their best pull tabs games and I even won $100 after only putting in $10 dollars! The food was fantastic and the crew was even better! It really feels like hanging out in the comfort of my own backyard! Definitely my new favorite spot!

Bingo Thursdays are the best! This is where I go to chill and have good food. Staff is way too fun to not keep coming back! The riverside tacos are killer!

Came in tonight to celebrate my birthday. Service was phenomenal and the bartenders were incredibly kind and personable. Suggest coming here for a good laugh and great cocktails

Great French Dip and the sweet potato fries were the best we’ve had in a very long time!

We came here for dinner, specifically because the menu on Google Maps said that they had poutine. Unfortunately when we tried to order it, our waitress said that it hadn't been on the menu for a month. Disappointed, we figured that we might as well eat dinner there, and both of us wanted the Street Noodles. Much to our dismay, the waitress notified us that they were out of noodles for the night. Needless to say, we only stayed for the drinks that we'd ordered. The waitress was very apologetic, and only charged us for my girlfriend's alcoholic drink (not my flavored lemonade). Thank you, Corinna - your customer service skills were exemplary! Would definitely come back here again, moreso if they bring back the poutine. ??

Always friendly, great burgers, Cuban sandwich is amazing! Nice, 12 tap beer selection. Cool, neighborhood location, near but NOT Kendall Yards.

Greeted upon arrival was nice. Not too busy. Seems to be a disconnect between staff and management from the conversations we overheard. The food was incredibly overpriced for what it was. 3 small pretzels for a $12 appetizer. The Cuban was greasy and overall not good. The fries, onion rings, and ranch were decent. Don't recommend if you want food, seemed fine for a happy hour drink.
