My husband and I went for a date night, the steak fajita was amazing. We shared the queso and chips and the steak fajita special, together we couldn't finish everything. It was so delicious. The waitress was attentive and had great suggestions for drinks. We will definitely be back.
Food is fantastic, great drinks, unique and cool building.
First time there and would go back again! We brought a group of 17 (with a reservation, don’t be those people) and they were phenomenal. Even with another large party in there, Mandi and Brandon were attentive, friendly and great to be around. Service was great and food was decent, it seems like they have on and off nights based on the reviews. They have a creative idea that I’d like to try more things on the menu! Our whole party was happy with their experience overall
My wife and I had a date night and wanted to try this place out. It was super slow and not busy at all. Service started off nice but it took 10 mins for the waitress to grab our drink orders. She wasn't personable at all, didnt even know her name. Took another 10 mins for her to take our order, but at this point it was annoying since there were probably 4 tables taken. We decided not to eat alot and go to another restaurant where we had amazing service. The food tasted like it came out of a can. No flavor in the taco or enchilada. My wife didnt even finish her food. Waitress didnt even ask if we wanted a Togo box. The only thing that was fast was the waitress grabbing our check to close out. Why this place has good reviews is beyond me, but definitely not tex mex food. Just bland. Terrible
Best bread pudding I've ever had. It had apples in it, and was lightly pan fried into sticks, so it tasted like a combination of apple fritter, french toast, and custard. Served warm, with a side of ice cream, a caramel drizzle, and a few candied jalapeno slices, I was in heaven. It was just a special when I visited, and I think they ought to consider giving it a permanent place on the menu, possibly offering different fruits/fillings in different seasons to keep things fresh. Strawberry rhubarb with a little chili powder maybe? Or candied pecan? They're onto something with their bread pudding, and I would love to see them experiment with it.
The location is great. The Bad Seed is located inside of a historic city library. The building exterior is a little plain, but well preserved. Given its age, I can see why they would be reluctant to make significant changes.
The interior is a little odd, decorated with mismatched classical paintings from multiple eras, a little taxidermy, some native carvings, Victorian candlesticks covered in wax, ornate gold goblets, and table lamps with flickering faux-candle LED bulbs in them. The rafters are all carved and painted, and I'm not sure if they're original from when it was a library or if they were part of the restaurant renovations. I don't really see a theme, and it doesn't give me a strong Tex Mex vibe.
Not everything on the menu was actually available. The menu was clearly printed on printer paper, so I'm not sure what the barrier is to printing new ones.
The food was well cooked, but could have used some diversity of flavor. The tacos only came with 1 tortilla, which promptly fell apart under the weight of the brisket, though it seemed to hold up ok to the other meats. Usually, street style tacos have two tortillas, and they're definitely generous enough with the meat portions to use two tortillas without throwing off the balance. I think my tacos could have used some acidity, too. Chipotle is a heavy flavor that lingers for a long time. I found it to be a little overpowering, but I have that experience a lot with Tex Mex.
such a rad little place!
The food here is awesome. There is a creative edge to it that makes it interesting and fun. The space is moody and comfortable. I feel like you can tell that the staff like working there. We have visited multiple times and the service is always excellent.
Delicious drinks with a cool, friendly atmosphere. Mandi took exceptional care to welcome us and explain some of the lore of the place. The queso was incredible; I’d haunt this place if I was a ghost for sure.
On top of the unnecessarily long wait time, the food that was presented was some culmination of canned beans, instant rice, overcooked meat, and a "consomé" that I can only describe as lukewarm dirty dishwater. Not even the soda was properly mixed and the Hemmingway Daiquiri was "spicy."
The confusing "ecclectic" collection of paintings, trinkets, music, and even the food all stem from seperate clashing eras and cultures drowning any semblance of theme.

What an amazing experience and time at the Bad Seed 🤗
They hosted the Brunch with Santa created a one of a kind, one day only menu that was outstanding🤗 The staff was just as excited as we were to be there, I can't wait to do more here! The historical building adds to the atmosphere while dining and the true candle light dinner is memorizing ❣️
