We went to Vieux Carre during restaurant week, giving it another try after a disappointing prior visit. Unfortunately we were again dissatisfied. The cornbread was excessively sauced as to be wet and mushy. The rabbit hand pie was very dry, with stringy meat and a handful of frozen vegetables tossed in. The beignet was as flat and doughy. Altogether another tasteless meal. We don’t recommend it and we won’t be back. John and Dayle Yates

The best Louisiana kitchen I’ve been to outside of the state of Louisiana. Traditional meals with the chefs in style modifications. I regularly recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

My boyfriend and I got an early dinner here. We got a few draft beers, the fall harvest salad, and the short ribs to share. This was a perfect portion for two people to split. We thought the salad was fresh and flavorful. We thought the spare ribs were tender and savory. The farro ricotta is a nice twist, and it had a lot of flavor. Overall the ambiance is really great here and we will be coming back.

Very beautiful atmosphere…We had high hopes for this place but for us, spending over $100 on okay food wasn’t really worth it. The crab appetizer was the best dish for us but the other two just didn’t have as much flavor or spice. We went around 3pm, there were only 4 other families there but our server just forgot about us. It took forever to order, (even our drinks), he said he would refill our water but never did…I ended up having to tell someone else that we were ready for our check. We don’t plan on going back.

Really impressed with the atmosphere, the menu seemed delicious and we couldn’t wait to try our food. Overall for a fine dining place I’d say it passes the test, but it’s a step below from the typical Cajun cuisine in the sense that the spice is nonexistent in the dishes. Along with the fact that the risotto is not exactly risotto, if you’re looking for well cooked food? It’s a good spot to try, but to say it’s a representation of the Creole food a foodie learns to love? Is like saying Taco Bell is authentic Mexican cuisine. Service wasn’t exactly the best for fine dining either. I tend to leave mostly positive food reviews, but one must know if they’re looking for a kick in their food? This place ain’t it. Otherwise it’s a nice restaurant for fine dining. Take care. Going out to try food is all apart of the experience. Just my two cents. Merry Christmas!

Delicious flavors prepared well, plus yummy drinks… highlights have been the boudin balls, hushpuppies, gumbo z’herbes, fried catfish with cheesy grits, and short ribs. It’s quite popular so I’d advise making a reservation, although sitting in the bar is fun too!

Everything was delicious!
We had the Boudin Balls for an appetizer and then the jambalaya, and the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits for dinner.
For dessert we had the bananas foster and the stuffed beignets. We preferred the bananas foster, but both were good.
The drinks were delicious as well.
I recommend making reservations. It's a very popular restaurant.

Vieux Carre is a gem! I went for the first time after it was suggested by a friend as a place to meet for lunch and we were both impressed! Everything, from the moment we arrived was special. We were warmly welcomed and sat right away. The exterior and interior were both warmly decorated and it's obvious that a lot of care and intention went into all details. The same with the variety of the menu, and the food. I had the shrimp cakes which had just enough kick, and the poached pear salad. My friend had a grillade sandwich with shredded pork, white cheddar, collard greens, and pickled peppers. Wowzers! I was so tempted to have dessert, but the portions were filling and I left satisfied. I've already told several friends about my experience and I can't wait to return.

First time at this little hidden gem and my friends and I were not disappointed! Since they are so popular having a reservation is ideal.

A cool spot with a unique menu. They have a lot of southern staples and NOLA atmosphere. I had the best Po Boy sandwich with hands down the best collard greens. They also have some great cocktails that pair perfectly with the food. I love New Orleans and this place makes you feel transported there. I highly recommend anyone to try it out!

I literally can’t give it more stars??? It was a nice slice of home for a fellow Cajun girl. The Rabbit Étouffée and both of the Gumbo selections were heavenly. Must have the Fried Green Tomatoes. Whoever the chef is, praise him, he put his foot in all the food. Best drink there is the Southern Cobbler.
