Oh Spokane.....Let's start with the initial impressions:Had reservations for 2 at 8:30PM on a Friday night. Arrived promptly and had to wait 5 minutes for the table to be ready. No problem. We are taken to our tiny table in the middle of the dining room with a single candle. No table cloth, no place setting, not even a rolled napkin with silverware. OK.Server arrives fairly promptly and takes our drink orders. We begin to browse the menu while debating between the rigatoni, the chicken schnitzel, or the pork chop. The drink arrive after 15 minutes. Not terrible, not good. The drinks: $15 each. Ordered an Old Fashioned (had Old Forester). I should have not ordered that as that is horrific bourbon, my mistake. My wife ordered a "Bees Knees" (I believe some sort of gin cocktail). Extremely tiny. The food: The server announced they were out of the pork chop and some other dish that eludes me. None the less that was annoying as running out of popular dishes on a Friday night is a bit ridiculous (and I was told by friends that the pork chop was the dish to order, apparently planning in the kitchen was not happening that night). We ordered the blistered pepper and cheese appetizer, the "Fancy Burger" and the chicken schnitzel. The appetizer: Very tasty (the filling that is). The pepper itself was charred but not really cooked. Basically a raw pepper. Lazy preparation.Strike one: The waitress did NOT ask how we wanted the burger cooked. For $18 I would expect not only for the burger to be exceptional (it was good, not great) one would expect to be asked how they wanted it cooked (even Red Robin asks how you want your burger done).Strike two: The chicken schnitzel. Well on the positive note: It was big. That's about it. It was dry, flavorless, and came with a horrific bed of coleslaw looking mess and a slice of lemon tossed on top. Salt and pepper were desperately needed (and not on the table or I would have used it). Spices of ANY sort were desperately needed. A better cut of chicken or less fry time would have been great as well since I went through 3 glasses of water to choke the flavorless smashed mess they called schnitzel down.Strike three: Went to the men's room. Flooded floor from the urinal. Classy. Didn't look like it just happened either as the rest of the bathroom was not exactly spotless.Dessert menu was presented: Mostly digestifs and three boring dessert choices (I think some kind of apple crumble and the other two already forgettable). We passed.Overall the meal was $135.00 for all of this.A couple suggestions for anyone reading this:First, Spokane is not exactly known for high end cuisine. The majority of "new" restaurants tend to cater to a young crowd that includes close tables and loud echo dining rooms (and the always present annoying trendy music blaring). Lots of fun to spend $100-$200 for a meal to NOT be able to hear your partner without yelling. Wooden City was 100% this situation.Sound absorption panels: Buy them. Your customers want to talk not yell. The food: Time for a house cleaning. The food was flavorless, poorly prepared, and overall overpriced (very happy I passed on the $50 surf and turf special that night...my jaw thanks me).Drinks: Either improve the cocktails (and size) or lower the price. This isn't a Vegas bar.Overall: Bathroom really said a lot about the overall pride taken by the management. No excuse.Skip this one, you'll thank me (and so will your taste buds and wallet).

Came here later on a Thursday and was seated immediately. Tons more room inside than I thought. More adults than kiddos but definitely both family- and couple-friendly. Had a nice view of the pizza prep area and really enjoyed watching them make one of the best pizzas I've had in years! Crust was chewy but not too thick. Tasted the excellent cheese & sauce right away. Nice basil graced the top. Impeccable service (great timing, super friendly). Can't wait to visit Spokane again so I can go back to Wooden City... though I learned that there are two more in western WA...woo hoo!!!

We love doing date night at wooden city! They have a simple menu, all of which is delicious. Starting with drinks, we love their penicillins and dirty martinis. They have so many different kinds of good alcohol that you can’t really go wrong with drinks. We usually get an appetizer, and, of course, the surf and turf for dinner! It’s one of our favorite entrées because the meat is always cooked perfection, the lobster is delicious and the dumplings are very tasty. It’s an incredible portion for the price as well. The service is always top-notch as well, we really enjoy this restaurant.

Loved this restaurant! Excellent service (the best I've had in years), our food arrived quickly and our meal was incredible. The cocktails are excellent too (the Bees Knees is ?). We're only in town for one night and were going to enjoy a nice dinner - we were so happy find this place.

The steak was awful. Not worth a $50 plate.

Pizza undercooked and doughy, pork chop under seasoned, can feel cornstarch in dessert. Not worth the money.

Food was great. Service (Lisa) was exceptional!

Chicken Schnitzel, you only lack one thing...the beat ravioli that my wife ordered. My dear Schnitz, consider this arrangement: substitute your bed of rice with a bed of ravioli pillows. Just imagine sinking your vivacious curves of firm brown flesh into those pillows of pleasure. Tempting, isn't it? I'll have you anyway I can get you, but you deserve those pillows. Love, Rusty

We joined the waitlist in person for dine in and received the 1 hour 15 minute wait time via text at 5:39pm while speaking with the hostess. I asked the hostess if we would be notified via text when our table was ready and she said yes, so we decided to wait nearby. At 6:17 we received the following text: “We've updated your estimated wait time to 15 minutes, starting now. We'll let you know when we're ready to seat you.Text 9 at any time to remove yourself from the waitlist.” We immediately walked back to the restaurant and were inside their waiting area by 6:25.At about 6:55 we still had not been seated. I asked the hostess for an updated time and she told me that they held our table for about 10 minutes and then removed us off the list “a while ago.” I told her we had been there for a half hour and never removed ourselves from the waitlist, and never received a text that our table was ready. She offered to put us back on the waitlist but try to make some adjustments to seat us sooner than an additional 1 hour wait. We opted to leave.First of all, the waiting area is extremely small and in clear view of the hostess. At one point I asked her where the bathroom is, so I know that she was aware we were there. Second, if the text says “we’ll let you know when we’re ready to seat you,” then that is what should happen. If the hostess expected us to check in with her upon our return, then the text should say to do so. Ended up at a chain restaurant because our child couldn’t wait any longer to eat.
