I love having Senegambian food available nearby. We enjoyed Jollof Rice with Yassa chicken, Samosas fresh from the fryer with Beignets for dessert. The food is cooked without pepper, I guess for Seattle taste buds, so be thankful that there is plenty of pepper to add if you ask! Highly recommended. Next time I'll try the figure with okra seafood stew!

Decided to grab a bite before getting back to work. Julie and I ended up at @spicebridgefoodhall in #Tukwila, where there are always 4 food vendors, all woman owned small businesses sharing a kitchen. Each vendor is there 3 days a week. Food here is legit! #yaaasssToday, we decided to get food from @afellajollof. We got the #beefpastels (reminds me if an empanada...nice thin crispy shelln not greasy) , #chickenkebabcombo (chicken was TENDER & tasty), #GoatDibi (tender pieces of goat...my palette was enjoying the different flavors in my mouth), #beignets (oh so light and warm), and #africancrispydoughnuts (perfect paired with coffee or tea. Lightly sweet). Overall, we VERY MUCH enjoyed our food. Our palettes were super happy with all the flavors /spices we were experiencing. Whatever hot sauce that was given in the side tasted like it was mustard based. So tasty with a nice amount of heat... I was addicted. #nomnomnom #foodieheaven #authenticfood #supportlocalbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #supportwomenownedbusiness #foodporn #FoodieFriends #foodie #WhatsForLunch #supportminorityownedbusiness #afellajollofcatering #afellajollof #tukwila #WA

First things first, I'm a huge fan of Spice Bridge ( and think it's an incredible idea as well as executed extremely well. It's worth everyone's time to stop in and support some of the vendors. Afella Jollof is my personal favorite vendor there. Knowing little about Senegalese/Gambian cuisine, here are my takes: - Hands down, they make the most delicious samosas I've ever had - Their hot sauce is absolute fire and different from any I've had (with a tang of mustard) - The fried plantains are not soggy or greasy. Really, they're perfect. Especially with some of that hot sauce. - The fish w/ cassava couscous (!) was wonderful - The chicken skewers are amazing - The food feels healthy. Every time I eat here I walk away energized. - One time there was a red bean stew on the menu that blew my mind. Delicious in a way I hadn't experienced before. On top of that, Oumie and Adama are lovely, personable people. Big ups to Afella Jollof. Fingers crossed that this becomes a full restaurant. This food is amazing and the chefs are absolutely wonderful.

Wow! My first time going to Spice Bridge. Decided to try this stand and it was amazing. I've never had west African food before. I ordered the Yassa Chicken. Holy crap. I got smacked in the face with flavor. Delicious, eat once a week at least flavor. The rice was great. The salad was great. The hot sauce was great. Where have you been all my life?? I'm going to try all the other stalls. This is my go-to spot for lunch now. I was kind of disappointed with how slow it seemed at lunch time. These businesses deserve to have a shot after seeing what I got today.

Stopped by for dinner takeout. We decided to go in person, instead of online, as it was the end of the day. It was ready quickly, with little wait. We ordered Chicken Yassa, which was marinated and grilled with onions and garlic. The Fish Yassa was prepared similarly, but know it is a whole tilapia fish. Both Yassa dishes were delicious. Each meal was served with jollof rice and a side salad. If offered the green pepper sauce, take it. It is spicy, but a perfect compliment to the grilled meats. The ginger juice was bright and fresh. A nice addition to the meal. We were both completely satisfied and will absolutely be back.

My husband and I were delighted with our experience getting take-out here today! Kind, friendly service in a very clean, COVID-aware environment in the Spice Bridge Food Hall (right next to the Tukwila Library), and the food was DELICIOUS! We had the chicken kebab combo and the chicken yassa (both of which came with generous helpings of tasty jollof rice) and some sweet, fresh ginger juice. What a treat to support a local small business by warming up with the sun-drenched spices of traditional Senegambian food on a drizzly winter day!

I was very pleased with the chicken kebab combo. The chicken on the two kebabs was moist and flavorful. The beef pastell was hot and fresh (cooked to order) and had a nice pastry crust and delicious filling. The salad was dressed nicely, with tomatoes and cucumbers which helped fight the heat from the mustardy, peppery hot sauce (don't pass it up when offered). Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes!

Finally got a chance to go to spice bridge as I'm getting kind of sick of the staple Mexican , Thai and Chinese options that are my go to. This Ghambian stall is one of the four options I chose. Very happy I did. Literally felt like I was in west Africa! Amazing food- I'm already thinking to use them to cater my next party. (When they are allowed of course - this pandemic is getting old) Adama was the lady's name who served my up some freshly sautéed dishes. Fantastic! Highly recommended. The eating area isn't that great as it's mostly take out for covid reasons but I'm sure it will be great once this mess is over. Grab some on the way home from work- you won't be disappointed!

It's nice to see these small business in this food hall. Adama Jammeh and Oumie Sallah present the food of Senegal and Gambia at Afella. I had the Chicken Yassa, described as "grilled chicken leg marinated overnight in onion, garlic, mustard, lemon, and chef's secret recipe." It came with a side of Jollof Rice. The flavor was great, but the chicken was dry. We're talking VERY dry, as in overcooked and so dry as to almost be inedible. I was disappointed. Those flavors with a juicy piece of chicken would be outstanding. The green spicy sauce/chutney that accompanied the chicken is outstanding. The Jollof Rice ("steamed basmati rice seasoned and sautéed with onions, garlic, pepper, tomatoes, and carrots") was okay. I've had better Jollof Rice at African restaurants before, so this was not tops. It too was a little dry, but the flavor was fine. Finally, I had a beignet. These are round. It had a nice crunch on the outside and a good sweetness, but it was so dense and heavy that I could not eat it. This was a disappointing item. Over all, Afella Jollof seems to show some signs of being a young restaurant. It needs to work on preciseness and consistency so the great flavors are accompanied by juicy and appealing items they spice. I'll go back because it's a business worth supporting, but I can't give this place more than three stars (A-OK in Yelp's terms) for now. I hope to see improvements so I can up the rating later. Afella Jollof Catering is located in the Spice Bridge food hall (located in one of the S*** retirement condo buildings). Parking can be hard to locate at first, but it's behind the building. Spice Bridge is home to Food Innovation Network's Food Business Incubator program, which helps South King County women of color and immigrants start and grow thriving businesses (see It features food from around the world, with owners who are passionate about that food.
