Great food selection! The variety is always good, but it would be nice to be able to order a la carte in case you don't want to eat the "all you can eat" amount. Good service, but the combo of soft-spoken servers and loud-ish music made it difficult to hear what they were saying. It would also be nice if they had a menu to scan at the table rather than just up front. I almost feel like the tables could be bigger - once you get all your stuff to cook and your drinks and the burner is going, there's hardly any room to eat or cook without knocking something over or dragging your arm through something.

I was a little skeptical going to this restaurant because of their already poor reviews but I decided to give it a shot anyways. It was far worse than I ever expected. We were a table of five and two of our water glasses had lip stains and finger prints all over the brim. After sending them back for clean ones, we received one clean glass and another glass yet again with more stains on the brim. Based on the lack of quality control we already experienced, we decided not to get the premium package which was a wise decision. We ordered one of their flavored soju drinks for our table and when we received our drinking glasses, we noticed one of them had two big cracks in it. Of course, we asked for a new one. To our surprise, the server actually brought us another glass that had a big crack in it.
Something else I thought worth mentioning was their ridiculously tiny portions. We ordered some pork belly, pork cheeks, shrimps and vegetables and what we were presented with was 5 shrimps, one strip of pork belly, five bite size pieces of pork cheek, and five thin slices of bell peppers with two paper thin slices of zucchini. This was our limit for ordering each time and we had to wait long periods of time to reorder . We stayed for a little over two hours and ultimately ended up leaving hungry.
I wish I can say I was exaggerating but there is still so much more that actually happened. There are clearly lots of problems when it comes to management and quality control and I can’t imagine this is a system that will last. I really hope this place can change for the better because there is so much potential. The inside is very well put together and they have a very sociable atmosphere.

The restaurant is nice but could be smoky or smell of burnt. I guess this is expected for a BBQ restaurant but still, consider if you need to go somewhere else after it.
Their appetizer is good. We tried mandu and cheese chicken.
The marinated meat was fine. A little bit sweet but shouldn't be a problem. But when it comes to non-marinated meat, like "prime" steak and shrimp, it really shows the food doesn't seem to be fresh.
The soup is extremely salty. The side dishes were never refilled despite we asked for it literally 4 times and they did confirm to do so. So that was 1 turn of side dishes for 4 people for the entire dinner. Salad never came either. And the wait time between order turn seems very long. I wouldn't complain on this but the overall experience was really bad. We gave up on waiting to order and decided to leave early with a hungry stomach ?. I personally wouldn't come back

The server gave us the wrong order and took forever getting our “correct” order and drinks. Food is ok.

If you like Mexican style BBQ this is your place. Pollo and carne asada at Korean bbq? They serve you ready to eat tortillas on the same plate with the raw meat. How does that make sense? Meat is definitely low quality and not worth the price. For the same price you can go to much better places

First time, definitely a great experience. Our server Ethan was awesome in taking the time to go over allergies that we had, and assisted with chopping up meats or swapping the grates when the opportunities arose. The selection even at the base tier was more than enough and great value. Everything we chose was delicious, looking forward to coming back again.
Dietary restrictions: Separate menu is available that shows what allergies will be affected by dishes.

I am only giving this at least two stars because the service was great once we got seated, plus its not their fault that ownership/ management has failed them. To start there is plenty of space for seating but they do not have enough staff to handle the all the activity, so be prepared for long waits. For two people we waited for over an hour. This is not the GEN that opened, this is some cost cutting version, the cuts of meat for the normal dinner menu is unacceptable, to get any kind of thinly sliced meat you have to pay the $20 upcharge that most Korean BBQ's of this type already offer at their price point. Will not be coming back unless they make changes, which is highly unlikely to happen. They had a good thing going now I don't know what they have.

“Absolutely Disappointed with the Service!”
I rarely write negative reviews, but the experience I have today at GEN KOREAN BBQ HOUSE was shockingly poor. From the moment we walked in, it was clear I wasn’t a priority. The server seemed completely uninterested in helping me, barely greeted us, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience.
Throughout the meal, our server just keep passing by even we asked for something. When we did manage to get their attention, they were silence, and dismissive. Requests for basics like water refills or extra napkins seemed like an imposition. We felt ignored and unappreciated, as if our presence was a bother rather than a customer they cared to serve.
Not even our first time at the restaurant but first to be treated and have this type of experience from the server( DANNY). Who always check with other and not even on our table,
To make matters worse, when we politely expressed our concerns, we were met with an attitude and no apology, just excuses. It’s unacceptable to be treated this way, especially when dining out should be an enjoyable experience.
Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are plenty of places where customers are valued, and [Restaurant/Business Name] is clearly not one of them.

The BBQ itself was fantastic. I got the premium set and the steak was amazing. It felt worth the price, I got to eat so much.
I would skip the appetizers the fried foods weren't great.
Friendly staff I am excited to go back soon.

$35 AYCE Friday night, bring a lot of people so you can tried different type of meat. My favorite is steak calamari. The spicy pork belly, slices are good, premium steak has big chuck of fat but the meat is still tender. Beef bulgogi is another one I like. The sides are not great. The appetizers, take your pick, I did not try any, but my friend like calamari ring. Salad is bitter, they should use different type of lettuces like in CA. I do like Gen in So Cal better. The service is good. They do have premium options by adding $20. The table boot is small.

Mario and Ashley were AMAZING!!! We have been going to Waikiki Gen for years now, and when we heard Gen was coming to Seattle we were very excited. The opening and proceeding months has its growing pains, understandable. It is tough starting a new operation in a new territory, and we were sad to hear many friends and coworkers say the weren't impressed. We were confident this location just needed some time, and sure enough here it is. Mario and Ashley were excellent, went the extra mile and ensured we were having a great time. KEEP THEM! Have them train new employees, they get it and will set out a great standard that meets our first amazing experiences in Hawaii. Thank you! Keep it going! Looking up~

I don't know why this shop exists, the waiter doesn't explain the menu at all.Two of us spent an hour dining. This experience is very unpleasant.Waiters don't give tissues. Changing the baking tray is especially diligent.I will definitely not come again.
