This African restaurant is always buzzing with people — and for good reason! The food is full of bold, rich flavors that really hit the spot. It can get pretty crowded, especially during peak hours, but that just shows how popular it is.
If you are craving food from the Horn of Africa, then this is the place. Mostly caters for the Somali community that settled in large numbers in Tukwila. So if you want to taste this aspect of Seattle metro diversity, then this is place to be. About service, it is casual, and you have to order from the counter. If you expect extreme attention then this is not the place. The food: too much sugar. Sugar in nearly everything. That’s something that can upset anyone, looking for something moderately spicy.
6-3-2025. My family and I eat here. I had the Lamb Shanks & Rice. The portions are large and very good. My wife, Dexy's Soup / Broth, was full of flavor. Luis and I were the champions. We cleaned our plates while Dexy and Roldan couldn't eat anymore to finish.
Thank you, Juba Restaurant, for a fantastic meal.
My son had gotten carry out from here once so I tried it for lunch with a friend. You order at the counter and they bring your food out. On the cashier’s recommendation, we got the the first two items on the menu, Goat meat (Hilib Ari) and lamb shank. Both were very tasty and large portions - we could have split one entree. Service was fast and they checked in with us several times.
It was Friday lunch and they warned us when we ordered that they would be closing to attend prayers. But they let us finish and pack our leftovers without bothering us.
The setting is bright and orderly but nothing fancy. Location is on Tukwila International Boulevard not far from the light rail station so it’s an easy detour if you are headed to the airport or want to take an outing on the light rail.
Definitely worth a visit! I need to explore the other entrees next time.
My to go to for African dishes. They have a great variety of Meat for the meat lovers. They also serve other dishes like Rice, Ugali and some Ethiopian delicacies
The restaurant is spacious and staff are friendly
It was over all good
Not bad taste but if you didn’t not say anything they will serve you more bones goat meat. 🤨
I order rice and meat with no bones and no bones.
Food was very delicious and fast service!

I have had Somalia food before. Their food didn't do it for me
Nice people and service, not a fan of their lam shank ..goat and rice pilaf...didn't have spices i am use to t...maybe cuisine is from different part of Somalia than the other Somalian restaurants i have been.

The bariis (rice) they gave me was from yesterday which they microwaved. And you could tell the spaghetti was from yesterday as well because is dried up, and they microwaved it, and then served it to us. The meet was lamb, that was fine, the chicken stake not the best.

Was a very short visit, I asked if they had soup and the gentleman explained yes, it’s made with goat broth. I asked for one to go. He asked “just soup?” And I said yes (was craving soup but not from the area and it was close to where I was training). Literally my bowl of soup was only $2, while its broth and small chopped cabbage with amazing seasonings it was SO good and hit the spot. Next time I’m in the area I’m going back. The other people’s dishes smelled and looked amazing walking through the restaurant.
