The food was ok, nothing impressive. I got the Hibashi combination and the portions weren't as big as I thought for the price I paid ($49). Also, the piña colada and the strawberry daiquiri drinks were flavorless, I wasn't impressed. An 18% fee/tip is always applied when Dinning-in, so be ready for that. I paid around $100 for the hibachi combination and 2 non-alcoholic drinks, so I doubt I'll be back. Service was good though.

**First Impressions: Disappointing Experience at Renton Location**
I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant for the first time, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. This location, which occupies the space of the old Shari's, felt dirty, with a particularly unpleasant bathroom that seemed neglected.
Despite making reservations well in advance, my party was seated at a shared table with strangers who also appeared uncomfortable with the arrangement. While our cook was entertaining and brought some humor to the meal, the performance lacked the flair and excitement I’ve seen in other similar venues.
As for the food, it was just okay—definitely not on par with what you'd expect from a five-star restaurant, especially given the high prices. For what we paid, I would have rather dined at places like The Cheesecake Factory or Daniel’s Broiler, where both the quality and portion sizes are more satisfying.
The most significant issue, however, was the overwhelming amount of smoke. By the time we left, our clothes reeked of oil and grease, making the lack of proper ventilation a major downside.
My advice to the owner: It’s time to get your house in order. The place needs a renovation to improve its overall cleanliness and ambiance, starting with that bathroom. Investing in a better ventilation system would greatly enhance the dining experience.
This review is specifically for the Renton location near 405, and I have no desire to return to this or any other branches of the chain. Frankly, anyone giving this place five stars must be ignoring these serious flaws.

Was greeted immediately and asked if I wanted to just order straight from the kitchen bc it would a 30 minute wait if I wanted the food cooked in front of me, I agreed to the kitchen. I was seated at a table by myself near the door. Waited about 10 minutes before ordering. I asked for a cranberry juice, the vegetable spring rolls and the hibachi chicken with fried rice (which comes with salad and soup). Ginger dressing on the salad was very watery, soup was tasty. Next came the vegetable spring rolls which were the highlight of the meal. After another 20 minutes my entree was brought out. The only thing hot on my plate was the rice and the chicken was very tough and hard to chew. There is an 18% gratuity automatically applied to your bill. I even waited over 15 minutes for the waitress to come pick the check up so she can run my card. I would say I would never come back but I’m not from Washington. I wasn’t going to write review until I saw other patrons that came in after me being attended very well.

Mizu Japanese Steak House offers a fantastic dining experience with delicious hibachi-style meals and fresh sushi. The chefs are skilled and entertaining, making it a fun spot for groups. The atmosphere is lively, and the service is attentive. A great place for a memorable meal!

What a fun experience! Our chef Yan was entertaining and engaging as we watched him grill our food. Everything was cooked to our specifications. We had a group of four adults, but looking around, it is a popular spot for families as well. This is a Western "take" on Japan, giving it a sort of fusion feeling. A great addition to the Renton area.

We had an amazing experience!! We were early for our reservation (recommend a reservation), but were quickly seated. We ordered a variety of both steamed and fried rice, as well as steak, chicken, and shrimp options. Everything was excellent! Our chef, Randy, was fantastic, and had the best Bieber “Yum Yum” dance. ? Definitely would highly recommend visiting again!
Parking: Plenty of free parking, huge lot.
Kid-friendliness: There were a couple of kids at our table (not in our party), and they were entertained by the chef and seemed to enjoy their food.

Tip warning! They automatically add a 20% tip to your bill. So make sure you're not adding extra tip like I almost did. It's not super clear on the bill. I feel like they should tell you when they give you the bill that you've been charged already.
Food was delicious, my dad ate his whole plate, my nephew loves the food. The chef was fun and made it a good experience .
Service was nice. They were good at filling up water and coming by the table but it took a while to order food, get check. So prepare to spend a long time there.
Restaurant was renovated beautifully. Can't tell it used to be a Sharis. Nice vibe.

Let me preface this review by stating: I used to go, with my family, annually to the previous Mizu location as a birthday tradition started back in highschool by my parents for me. This will no longer be happening unless something radical changes. This review will also likely regularly compare the two locations, because.. Well, this is the forward move from the previous one, you'd think they were moving and would keep the same level of competence and quality.
I walked in before the rest of my party got there. Immediately, pungent fishy smell. Nothing currently being cooked, but it was a hot day, okay, might be related to that. Looking at other reviews after the fact, I was apparently wrong: Their ventilation is terrible. It doesn't take me long to adjust to the smell and I look around, okay, the tables are way closer together than the previous place, there's a table with only one guy at it, nothing currently being cooked, two other parties eating plus the one guy.
At first I wave off the hostess, saying I was waiting for my party. She asked if I had a reservation, I had forgotten to check and called to see if one had been made. Nope. I stood waiting at the front counter for about five minutes?-ish while the hostess dealt with a delivery pickup, and when she came back I told her hey, party of five, no reservation. It's a tuesday. Shouldn't need one.
She looked around (again, nobody currently cooking, and also to note, three open tables) and said okay, it'll be a 25 minute wait to be seated. Now, the previous Mizu didn't do that--If there were tables open, they sat you immediately unless there were reservations. They sat you, they took drink orders and appetizer orders and got you some water. This place? Nah.
Go sit on the 2-3 person bench across from some terracotta soldier-esque art piece blocking where another bench could be, with four wooden chairs in the airlock-style room adjacent to the entrance being the only other seating--on a 95 degree day, those seats were hot not recipients of the admittedly mediocre a/c that the rest of the restaurant had.
The rest of my party arrives and immediately notice the smell, with one wanting to walk back outside. We all adjust after a little bit of time, and I ask if we could possibly be seated at a table instead of waiting by the door. No response. My mom walks up, about to reiterate the suggestion but stops due to a sign on the front desk that states an automatic 18% gratuity due to a _proposed_ 20$+ minimum wage increase in Renton. Tips are given based on service, not as a requirement--We're not subsidizing the owner's ability to pay the employee so you can charge 30$+ a plate and have people wait around a half hour just to be seated at a clearly open table. I remember how the tips worked at the previous Mizu, down in Southcenter--You were only locked in at a gratuity percentage _if_ you had a party over a certain number.
We wandered away from the desk and discussed our options, then saw a chef walk out to one of the tables... With a mask on. Now, I was pro-mask all through covid. I'm pro-mask when you're sick. It makes tons of sense. The only realistic time to wear a mask is when you're sick, as a mask doesn't really protect you much from other people being sick--At least, not your average cloth mask. But it muffles the voice of the chef.
If he's sick, why is he working with food? Otherwise, he shouldn't need to wear the mask. The main appeal to hibachi-style restaurants like Mizu is the chef, the entertainment and style they provide, as well as the fantastic jokes. Between the noisy-but-smoky ventilation and the mask, I don't understand how anyone can hear and appreciate any humor or even any questions.
We walked out and went to Trapper's over in Southcenter instead. Even got some cocktails and likely paid a good 30% less than we would've h

The food was ok. I rather eat at Tokyo Steakhouse. The new location for Mizu is literally too small. They bought the old Shari's and just took the seats out and put in grills and a bunch of chairs. The chefs are entertaining. That's the best part about the restaurant. They are not accommodating, and they will let you make a reservation right before they take their break so they will rush you to order. They lack chefs, so don't come in before their lunch, which is at 3. Then you will have to wait an hour to be seated after that. The manager is rude. Do not expect good customer service. If you just want to walk in and get a drink, you are better off going somewhere else. They charge gratuity for a single person to grab a drink. They are just not a good place to eat. Especially for special events and birthdays! Probably will never come here again. Food and drinks are not on par either.

I had a party here for my daughter. They only had one cook which was told to me after getting there. They spliced up my party for different times and charged us gratuity twice. I asked the worker for chairs They told me to grab them mind you I don't work there. The manager argued with me instead of listening to me and the things he did where he has wrong. The gratuity got paid either way but the manager was very rude about everything. They didn't tell me their cooks had break from 3 to 4 mind you my reservation was for 230. My brother had bought a drink no food or anything just a drink and they charged him gratuity with the drink smgdh. This place isn't somewhere you want to go. They are not considerate of people or should I say people of color because I am a black women and I came here thinking they would be a good place and they weren't over all. My daughter wasn't happy with the food or anything else with them. I will never come back here again.
