Walking into Trapper’s Sushi at Southcenter feels like you accidentally stumbled into a secret underground sushi rave—but with better lighting and fewer glowsticks.
The moment I sat at the bar, a sushi chef shouted something enthusiastic that I didn’t understand, but it felt like an ancient blessing or the beginning of a sumo match. Either way, I was in.
I ordered the Mountain Roll, which came out looking like it just hiked down from Rainier to drop some flavor bombs in my mouth. Then came the Trapper’s Roll, which I’m convinced was designed by a mad sushi scientist who whispered to a tuna, “Be spicy. Be crunchy. Be unforgettable.”
And the service? Let’s just say my waitress had the timing and grace of a ninja—every time I blinked, more sushi just… appeared. I was worried if I made eye contact too long, she’d throw another roll at me like a shuriken.
Prices are reasonable, portions are big, and by the end, I was so full I had to waddle out like a bloated sea otter on vacation.
10/10 would recommend if you like your sushi loud, fast, and just a little bit dangerous.
Good food. Loved it here
Work close and needed something literally for lunch ordered a cup of soup $4.00 total and received a half filled small paper ramekin that fit in the middle of my hand with about two sips of soup.
When I could’ve paid $2 dollars more and got a whole kids meal with a drink. Just looking for an honest cup of soup.
Wait time is too long. I came here twice. First time waited 30 mins. Second time waited 20 mins. Portion is small so we ordered a lot of rolls, for two females the total was 75$. Taste is eh. Filling is uneven. Some has a lot and some barely has any. I cannot imagine how much would you have to wait for the “All you can eat” option, when the regular option already takes forever. Staff are nice.
First time here, was pretty good! Dont venture this way too often, but I would come back if im in the area!
Good food, friendly service
I’ve been a longtime fan of Trapper’s Sushi and have visited several of their locations over the years.
The Kent Station location was my favorite, so I was disappointed when it closed. I recently visited the Tukwila Mall location, and while the food was still solid, I was a bit let down to find a credit card surcharge added to my bill—especially since no one mentioned it upfront. It would’ve been nice to have a heads-up. Still a fan of Trapper’s overall, but I hope they can improve the transparency around extra charges.
Our server kept forgetting about us then left for the day. A different server was nice enough to cash us out. Sushi was just ok. Stuffed jalapeños weren’t cooked all the way. I wouldn’t go again
Shiva provided the best service I’ve ever had at a sushi restaurant. Michael came in to relieve him and made sure we were fully satiated with our meals. Both Shiva and Michael gave us a great conversation and delicious food. Some of the best presented sushi as well. I’ll definitely be back. I would give this a 10⭐️if I could.
I've been here a handful of times. The staff are always super friendly and polite. They get me a table very quickly. The place is always very clean and tidy.
The food is good. I tend to stick to a few different rolls and then try something new every once in awhile. They have a happy hour deal of 3 rolls for 33 bucks. And given most all the rolls are around 15 bucks it's a great deal. On today's visit the server told me of the deal, so I ordered it. She was very helpful and polite and kind.
The food it's self might not be the most amazing sushi ever. But it is a good sized step up from conveyor belt sushi. And for the price the quality and amount of food is a great deal. It would be a good place to bring a family with young kids or a group of adults, they do have alcohol.

We were not expecting the sushi to be so delicious, sat at the bar and had the sushi all you can eat. The sushi chefs were great and attentive. The sushi was on point, rice was delicious, rolls are large and tasty. One suggestion, white Onion does not belong in rolls. Other service (waitress) was subpar, but sushi chefs made up for it. Thank you Michael and sushi chefs for an awesome meal.

The manager on duty during happy hour this evening could have been more polite and less problematic. I ordered a substitute on a long roll, as I have before at this location and 2 in Tacoma, and was informed by the waiter that there would be a $5 upcharge. I hapily agreed. Close to 10 minutes later, the manager comes to my table to tell me, "The substitute you ordered will account for a lot of shrimp that I need to keep inventory of in the back. Since it's so much, you are going to owe a lot more than $5. I will charge you for 2 appetizer dishes, and since it's happy hour right now, it will be less than normal." I asked how much the substitute would be. He started looking at his handheld, and I mentioned that I don't recall being upcharged before nor having this much trouble with my request because I order the same meal every time. He said, well do you always get the regular amount of shrimp that comes in the roll? I replied I believe so, I have no idea what the normal roll looks like. He said, okay, we will only charge you $5, and we will NOT be able to make your roll in the future. I said, I will never order it again. I wanted to say that I would never return to the establishment again, but I didn't want my food tampered with.
I thought the managers' statements were rude and tacky. I don't think I should have been confronted as a paying customer if I agreed to the upcharge and absolutely no resolution was made. It was an uncomfortable, unnecessary, and embarrassing visit to my table.

We had a FABULOUS experience at Trapper’s Sushi this evening. It was our first time here and so glad we came. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and discovered it was still Happy Hour so of course that made us happier! Our server, Shelly, helped us figure out what to order. The food, the wine, beer, ambiance and service were simply amazing. Looking forward to our next visit. ?
