Latino families, please be aware—do not come to this Denny’s in Tumwater. I have visited other Denny’s around Seattle with no problem, but this location treated us very differently. Our table had no utensils or salsa, and when I asked, the waitress was unfriendly and looked like she didn’t want to serve us.
A woman who seemed to be a supervisor or manager was just sitting there chatting instead of checking tables. She accused me of ‘stealing’ salsa from another table instead of simply bringing what we needed. Meanwhile, I noticed white customers receiving smiles and friendly service.
I didn’t say anything in that moment because my kids were with me, but we felt disrespected, unwelcome, and discriminated against. Racism has no place in customer service, and I will never return to this location.

Three experiences in a row with Janet have been awful. First time going in at night, we waited 25 minutes after being seated to have our order taken. When she finally placed it, and the order came up in the window, we then watched it sit in the window for 35 minutes while she sat other guests, took their orders, and delivered their drinks instead of bringing us our food. Kitchen rang the bell three times and she ignored it.
This has been our experience every single time she's working. We get ignored, our food sits in the window for long periods of time, and it's overall not a great experience.
I almost got up and walked out tonight. This used to be my favorite Denny's but I no longer want to come back.
