The lahmacun flatbread, duck leg, old fashioned, and the chocolate espresso ice cream were all 5 stars. Owner and staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful with menu choices. Highly recommend. Historic building and nice warm lit open atmosphere. Glad I stopped in. Music selection was very good too.

We had reservations based on the recommendation from a friend who said that Saffron is the best restaurant in town. She was right! In fact, we just got back from 3 weeks in italy (Amalfi Coast and Piemonte region) and my dish at Saffron far exceeded anything I had in Italy. I had the duck with creamed corn. The duck on its own was very tasty and perfectly cooked, and the creamed corn (also delicious in its own right) perfectly complemented the flavors of the duck and all I say is OMG. My husband is a very good cook so we rarely eat out as we are often underwhelmed, but if all restaurants served such delicious meals, we would eat out every night! Our biggest disappointment is that Saffron is closed on Sunday and Monday so we can't return before we leave town!

Poor service, weird drink options, no good local red wine by the glass

Poor service. Took 90 minutes to get our main course, and the restaurant was half full. Menu looks very interesting and exotic. but the food was wholly unremarkable. Green beans were mealy and with a weird sauce that only further buried it. Cocktail tried too hard and didnāt succeed. The flat breads were very average, weāve had so many versions elsewhere that were superior. Same with the wings. We ate at several other restaurants while here that were much more enjoyable.
Ambiance is very nice.
We ate at a restaurant with the same name a number of years ago and were hoping to have that same wonderful experience. Nope. We have a group of 8 friends who are coming next week and we let them know they should not come here as we had previously recommended.

Restaurantji Recommends
Great local place. The queen had the halibut, cooked perfectly, while I had the golzleme, which I had never had before and was delicious. Not very loud. Nice setting, near a busy area.

10/10 for food and service!
I also appreciate their knowledge with the menu since I have a gluten allergy. Ross was an excellent server!
Highly suggest this place. We are from Idaho and we will be back!
Driving home to western Washington from a camping trip in Idaho, I stopped in Walla Walla for the night. One of the shop owners recommended I dine at Saffron, a Mediterranean kitchen with a strong Moroccan influence. Itās a place Iād like to go back to with friends so I can taste more of the wonderful small plates. (They also serve entrees, pastas and flatbreads.)
The meal had everything a good restaurant meal should have. An informed and engaging server, a unique menu, original cocktails that include my new favorite, an herbaceous Negroni-style drink called the Drink Me Seymour, interesting dishes that looked as good as they tasted and an unhurried, relaxing ambience.
I started with the cocktail and Fattoush, a refreshing tomato, cucumber and toasted Moroccan bread salad deliciously spiced with fresh herbs, Kefalotyri cheese, Walla Walla onions and green olives.
My server Chad suggested the beef cheeks, prepared on a bed of black eye peas with preserved lemon, green and yellow summer squash sautƩed with onion and brought together with a salty spicy sauce of house-made tahini, hawaj and fresh herbs (that paired wonderfully with a glass of Two Vintners Grenache and some dense homemade sourdough bread).
I would happily have eaten more ā the desserts looked delicious as well ā I consider this is a destination restaurant worth a trip to Walla Walla all on its own.

22 Years and Still Spicing Things Up!
We came to Saffron to celebrate our 22nd anniversary, and let me tell youāthis place brought the flavor AND goodness. Every bite was a reminder that great things just get better with time (like marriage⦠and steak, pork, lamb). The food was legitābold, fresh, and downright unforgettable. The service? Impeccable. We felt cared for, not just served.
After 22 years, weāve eaten a lot of meals togetherābut this oneās going in the highlight reel.

This was one of our best dining experiences in Walla Walla. We were able to easily book a reservation for the next evening mid week. The house cocktails were imaginative and very good and the wine list was very good also. The menu is not extensive but there was plenty of variety and it was easy to find good choices. We started with a mezza and then had two pasta dishes followed by dessert. The portions were plentiful without being wasteful. The food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The service was attentive and quick. It was not cheap, but not out of line with other fine dining places.
