2025 update: this place has really gone downhill. There's no a.c. so it's super hot in the summer so far. Portions have drastically gotten smaller and smaller and our sushi has been missing ingredients to the point where a 5 ingredient roll only has 2 of the 4 items inside the rolls. Really disappointed in how this has played out.

Very charming little Japanese restaurant with authentic menu options. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. This is definitely one of the better restaurants around Yelm. We came close to closing and they didn't make us feel rushed at all and the food was still really good with good portion sizes as well.

Food seems fresh and we enjoyed the sushi.
- service is slow. The teenagers working service were just unable to keep up even with the few customers there.
- Unnecessarily expensive and small portions. 3 people spent $125 including tips - for just about enough food and 1 house Sake.

Ok if you're craving sushi. Else too expensive for the portions, not recommended on value for money.

I felt like some sushi 🍣 😋 I came in and no one was there to greet me. I had to ask the person in the back of I should just seat myself. As I walked across the floor, my shoes squeaked for the sticky floor. The table was clean but not the sushi reference, it was grimmy. My waitress took good care of me. Food was fresh but sushi was loosely pack and fell apart on me.

If you’re not eating at Kinja in Yelm, what are you even doing with your life? I’m not saying their sushi changed me as a person, but I did leave with a renewed sense of purpose and possibly a wasabi-induced out-of-body experience.

The fish is so fresh, I half expected it to still be filling out a W-2. Every bite was like a flavor symphony playing in my mouth—if Beethoven was a sushi chef.

Service? Top-notch. The staff is friendly, fast, and somehow always knows when you’re low on soy sauce without even asking—like culinary ninjas.

10/10, would trade my left sock just to sit at the sushi bar again. Go. Eat. Thank me later. 🍣🔥

Still need to try the Bento box though!

The online menu is not correct!! I went into the restaurant thinking teriyaki chicken was $11-12 when it was actually $$18-24 The lady at the counter said the owner told her they wouldn’t change it because it gets people in and they tend to just stay since it’s easier than going elsewhere….. the food is not worth its price!! The owner is awful getting people in by lying!

Hair in food again!! Had it happen last time while dining in, thought it was a fluke. This time in the sushi takeout. I read other reviews and apparently this is a normal thing there Every time in the sushi roll. Won't go again.

Stopped in here for lunch, it was a great atmosphere with exceptional service and well prepared sushi. I’ll be coming back!

Honestly I’m just pissed the menu said my food came with miso soup when we got here they said they won’t serve it with Togo orders. This could have also been disclosed over the phone before we drove the whole way. They didn’t comp the meal or add a discount. The cashier said “you can order it separately and pay for it.” This is due to the owner simply not wanting to do it
