My husband, who used to be a professional brewer for places like Brewery Ommegang (part of Duvel Moortgat out of Belgium), is extremely picky about his beer—and that’s putting it mildly. The fact that he took a part-time job at Ahnapee helping with back-of-house work like scheduling brews, managing inventory, and maintaining supplies—and even picked up a few shifts serving in the taproom—should tell you just how good their beer really is.

I don’t have his master-brewer credentials, but I can honestly say I’ve never had a beer there that wasn’t absolutely delicious. The Algoma taproom itself is perfect—steps from the lake, with a great view (not quite direct, but close enough!), big garage doors that open up on nice days, and the occasional live music that’s actually good (check out Hunter Gatherer if you get the chance).

The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the whole place just feels like a community favorite. Algoma should be proud to have them. Ahnapee is an absolute must-stop—whether you’re a casual beer fan or a serious craft connoisseur.

This nice little brewery was hopping on Saturday at 5 when we stopped in after a walk on the beach. They had a great variety of beers on tap. I liked that you could try a free sip in a tasting cup, then 5 oz at a time to sample a few beers, and once you've found your favorites, they also have 12 oz and 16 oz pours. The prices are very reasonable, and if the weather is nice, there's plenty of outdoor seating in addition to a long bar and a number of tables indoors. I liked their Bavarian Dunkel best of the ones I tried on Saturday, but I also enjoyed tasting the Chocolate Milk Stout and the Lime Smash, because who doesn't like a nitro? Gotta get back there to try the Dark Side of the Yam. It's got a great name and the description sounds perfect for fall.

OMG! These folks know how to brew beer! The seasonal Octoberfest and pumpkin beers were works of art. Little Soldier still a constant fav here. No mushroom beer on tap this trip - but plenty to enjoy. Lindsey was an outstanding beer ambassador and Ahnapee beer expert. These guys really understand the craft of craft beers! Will be back! Feeling the beer L🍻VE❣️

Ahnaoee Brewery in Algoma is on the main drag and across the street from the park, beach, and the brewery's gian patio has a view of Lake Michigan. This location isn't huge inside but it is nice and bright. It can get busy but the service and patrons are friendly and the beer is good. On my last stop they had 11 of their beers on tap including some flagship and seasonals. They had an amber ale, cherry ale, blueberry ale, pear ale, helles lager, IPA, west coast IPA, chocolate milk stout, smoked brown ale, schwarzbier, and an oktoberfest. Ahnapee makes good beer and being close to Door County, they have a lot of fruited ales. This is a really nice brewery with a really nice location and definitely worth a stop.

Great beer. Great service. Grabbed some pizzas from down the street and walked over for a couple of beers. Peaceful patio and everyone were extremely friendly. Will be returning before the end of our trip.
