“Another hidden gem. Parking sucks but worth the short walk to the building. Not much for decorations but Sharon and her staff are attentive, and the food is phenomenal. Good prices too. I'm a repeat customer!”

“So, so good & worth the stop! A tiny, unassuming place with VERY limited indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating in the back, I got my meal to go. Authentic Mexican food that is fresh and delicious, I got the street taco platter which comes with 4 tacos & rice/beans, and you are able to choose 4 different meats for the tacos if you want, and corn or flour tortillas (go with the corn, one of the better corn tortillas I’ve had in awhile). I went with chicken, al pastor, barbacoa & lengua. All 4 were delicious. The chicken was maybe slightly salty if I’m being picky, but good flavor. The al pastor had huge chunks of meat & chunks of pineapple that were so good, the lengua tasty & tender, but the barbacoa was my favorite! The rice & beans were pretty standard but you get a huge helping! Not that I needed more food, but I had to try some chips & queso and they did not disappoint either, chips were fresh & the 3oz queso helping was perfect. I’m already craving more tacos just typing this, make the stop! I also love that the tacos come on a paper plate, not fancy at all but the quality of the food def makes up for it.”

“If you’re cruising through Merrillan and you skip the Merrillan Cafe, you’re seriously missing out. This little gem is everything you hope for in a small-town diner and more. The food is cheap, decent, and downright good. We’re talking hearty breakfasts that hit the spot and lunches that make you feel like you’re eating at your favorite aunt’s house. The portions are fair, the coffee’s always hot, and you won’t leave hungry or broke. But let’s talk about the real star of the show—the atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where everybody knows your name or at least hollers a friendly hello. It’s got that hometown pride stitched into every corner with a little sass and a whole lot of love. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, you’ll feel like part of the family the second you walk in. So pull up a chair, order the daily special, and soak in the good vibes. Merrillan Cafe isn’t trying to be fancy—it’s just trying to be real. And trust me, you won’t be disappointed.”

“This is the BEST BLT I’ve ever had in my life!!!! I will defn come back if I’m ever in town again. The atmosphere is cozy and it’s a local kinda place where everyone seems to know each other. Don’t let the fact that it’s connected to a gas station fool you, the food is amazing!”

“My friend and I went to Culver’s today for lunch. When we got there, there were 6 cars waiting at the drive through. While we were deciding what to do, a young man by the name of Ty came out of the store and took our order. He was very polite and took care of us right away. We appreciated the fact that he came out and that his customer service was AWESOME! Thank you for helping us get through the line quickly so we could get back to work. Had a GREAT experience.”

“Where i live theres not too many Hardees. So when I get a chance I go to one. This location is the nicest cleanest one I've seen. If you want a quick fast food break while on 94, id recommend this one.”

“This morning, June 26th, I visited the Dunkin’ location on Highway 54 in Black River Falls, and what I witnessed left me deeply concerned and honestly heartbroken. Two incredibly young workers — likely teenagers or just out of high school — were single-handedly managing the drive-thru orders, taking register payments, mobile orders, and making all the drinks and food themselves. There were no additional visible staff members. These girls were moving nonstop — sweating, juggling multiple orders, and multitasking with composure under obvious pressure. As someone who values hard work and dignity in labor, I was stunned by the lack of support these employees were being given. They were being set up to fail by a system that clearly expects too much from too few. No one — let alone two young people — should be expected to run an entire Dunkin’ operation alone during a busy morning shift. This has been a reoccurring issue at this Dunkin for far too long. This isn’t just about slow service or customer experience. This is about basic workplace standards and what it communicates to these employees about their worth. When a business runs like this, it’s not just unsustainable — it’s exploitative. I’m not writing this to complain. I’m writing this because these young women deserve better — and you have the power to ensure they get it. That means: Adequate staffing during peak hours Scheduled breaks and backup support Active supervision or mentorship, especially for younger team members A review of labor practices at this location, particularly during morning shifts I hope you’ll take this as the heartfelt concern of a community member who believes in treating workers fairly. I also believe Dunkin' — whether corporate or franchise-owned — can and should be a place that values not just profits, but people. Please let me know how this will be addressed. I’d love to be able to return in the future knowing that real changes have been made to support these employees.”

“This is a very nice bar. The owner and her staff are all super friendly and very attentive! The prime rib and baked fish night was the best we have eaten in a long time! We will be back. It has become our favorite bar in the Merrillan area!”
